S/O Labor time - first baby clicky poll
As a spin off on labor length from Chole's new baby post...

No more baby siggie pics. Boo.
Nobody wants to be celibate.
From birthing statistics online (and we all know that's the truth): The average first-time labor lasts 12-16 hours of "active" labor. Active labor is when your contractions are regular (3-5 min apart) and lasting about 1min or more each time.
From my perspective: I'm pretty sure you're not a baby-minded girl anyway, Asil, but labor is not all pain, it's just work (aka called labor) like running a long race or riding a huge mountain for 12 hours. Then again, I have a skewed view b/c of my own experiences (and I'd do it again in a heartbeat if I had the chance).

This sort of freaks me out since #1 was so quick for me.
My second was faster than my first, but everyone is different...my mom's first labor was about 12 hours, then the shortest was with my oldest sister (about 4 hours), then mine was a little longer (I think about 8 hours), then my little sister was like a 2-day labor.

So next time, in your 3rd trimester, be careful sneezing.

I will just camp out in the hospital parking lot for the third tri (:
Water broke at 1am. Contractions started intense but erratic an hour or two after. He was born at 11:30.
With the twins, my water broke at 1am, contractions started within a couple of hours and I'm pretty sure I was in transition when they did the c-section at 10am.
From the start of pitocin to birth of DD it was 6 hrs. From the start of pitocin to birth of DS it was 5 1/2 hrs. I was 4 cm dilated with DD for a few weeks before my induction. I was only 2 cm dilated with DS going into the induction
