Switching from formula to milk

So how did the transition go for you?  Any helpful tips?

Re: Switching from formula to milk

  • I'm a huge "cold turkey" mom. The day after their one year pedi visit, they stopped getting formula in bottles and started getting milk in a sippy. DS2 wasn't crazy about giving up his morning bottle, but he was fine in a few days. I think finding the right sippy is key. Mine like the soft top ones. (Although they leaked like crazy and made me nuts.) Good luck to you. They can handle it if you can!

  • It was easy.  We started giving the formula in a sippy for a couple weeks, and then I want to say we mixed the formula/milk for a few days before going to straight milk.  I anticipated it being way worse than it actually was!

  • Sounds good.  I have started giving him at least 1 bottle in his sippy cup and we have been trying to make the bottles less warm.

Now DH would like to make the switch now before the 1 year pedi visit 2.5 weeks away since we are low on formula and thinks now is as good as any time.

Did any of you start earlier than the exact 1 year mark?

This is what we are doing too.  I have actually started giving him milk.  So far I have just given him 1 oz. with each meal in a sippy.

Yes, with E we started a couple weeks before her 1st b-day.

Not paying for formula anymore was so liberating.
