Sleep Talking/Walking?

My husband sent me this link, and if you're bored, it's a pretty entertaining read.

http://www.reddit.com/r/AskReddit/comments/pea1i/just_grab_a_fork_and_everything_will_be_just_fine/

Just for fun, do you have any funny/shocking sleep talking/sleep walking stories to share?

Mine: In college, I sat up in bed (dead asleep but eyes wide open) when my roommate and her boyfriend walked in sorta late, and said "ARE WE GOING TO MAKE A HABIT OF THIS??"

My husband says I talk all the time, but not usually coherently. One time when I lived at home I asked our foreign exchange student to bring me a pitch fork and a spoon. My room had two twin beds, and I'd go to sleep in one and wake up in the other. One time my brother and his friend were in the living room and I walked out of my room, sat down on the couch next to them, stared at the tv for a few mins, and then walked back out.

Most recently, about a year ago, DH and I laid down for a nap. I woke up all of 5 minutes later, screaming and pointing at the ceiling, saying something about how we had to get out of here because the ceiling is going to collapse... that one was FREAKY REAL and although I remember it because my screaming caused me to wake up, it definitely started as a dream.

Re: Sleep Talking/Walking?

  • I used to talk in my sleep (or sometimes sing) quite often. DH never said I do so I wonder if I stopped or if he's a deeper sleeper.

But yesterday Addie woke up in the morning and asked me what happened to her frog pajama pants and underwear. She had gone to bed wearing them and apparently changed to different ones in the middle of the night, on idea why.

  • Bwahahahahahaahaha ....that thread is hilarious!

I don't sleep walk/talk, myself...but...my little brother is notorious for being difficult to wake up and get going in the morning. When we were kids, it was my job to get him up and moving to get ready for school. When we were in elementary school our mom made us pick our clothes out the night before and hang the whole outfit, down to underwear/socks/shoes on our closet door to speed things up with getting dressed the next morning.
So one morning I go in to wake my brother up several times, he won't get up - I go in again to yank his covers off and force him to get up when I notice he's already out of bed...I find him crouched by his closet door...furiously rubbing his underwear for the day on his shoes ...I watch him for a minute before asking him WTH he's doing and he replies..."I'm shining my gun! It's getting late.". He was still completely asleep. When he did come to he said he was dreaming that he was a cowboy LOL

  • In HS at my first Drill Team camp, I guess I was nervous b/c my roommate (we stayed in dorms at SMU for the camp) said I kept saying "5...6...7...8" in my sleep.  I guess I was even practicing in my dreams!
  • I sleep walk quite a bit, I've been known to get up to answer a ringing phone without ever waking up, I answer it, never say anything, then hang up.  I can't count how many times I woke up IN Cooper's room already holding him when he was an infant.  It really freaked me out at first because I wasn't entirely sure that I wouldn't put him in the dresser drawer or something crazy while I was sleeping.  I never did though.  I guess that mom-instinct really is pretty strong.

The funniest though is a story about my husband who doesn't normally sleep walk or talk.  The first Christmas we were married (also our 1st Christmas in our  house) I bought him a bunch of new power tools and I woke up Christmas night to him saying "Mmmmmm.... Ryobi... sigh"  I still periodically tease him about dreaming about his "girlfriend Ryobi."  [Ryobi is a power tool brand]
