Consignment Sales?

So, SIL happened to mention that there are a few baby-related consignment sales in the area, but didn't go into details. When are they? Where are they? Names? Is there good stuff there, for reasonable prices? Honestly, with having 2 babies, we are looking to save money on the little things. I know this is probably a little early, but I'm optimistic!

TIA!

Re: Consignment Sales?

  • The Twice as Nice Kids Consignment Sale is run by a fellow Nestie!  Here is a link to her sale:  http://www.twiceasniceomaha.com/

Her sale will be at the end of March this year.  I have been to Reruns R Fun and to Take Two, and the Twice as Nice sale is definitely the best.  It's smaller, but much better run, and the quality of stuff is a lot better.  I get all my daughter's clothes at this sale each season.  I usually spend around $100 each season, and that includes shoes and toys for her birthday and holidays.

If you can, I would volunteer so that you get to shop early.  It is definitely worth your time to shop these kinds of sales, and this one in particular.

  • Twice as nice is definitely the place to go!!!!

We did go to Big wheels to butterflies - an actual store rather than sale - because DS had a huge growth spurt and we had NO 12 month clothes for winter! I didn't like it -- clothes were stuffed in so tight we had such a hard time finding anything. The stuff they did have seemed over priced and the organization of the clothes was a little weird. We found a few things - at decent prices - but will not go back unless the same thing happens again!

  • I like Twice as Nice.  I also like Munchkin Junction and that sale is a little later this yeat (May) so you could easily find good stuff at both.  I also like Once Upon A Child.  Omaha also has great neighborhood garage sales that I love shop at.  Go on a Thursday when selection is best.

Some of my favorites:  Hillsborough, Briar Hills, Bridlewood (all NW)

  • I agree with TAN. They don't sell crappy, dirty clothes like a lot of the other consignment sales do. There is a real difference between them and the other ones. I really couldn't believe what the other shops allowed at their sales. Gross.
  • Here's another vote for Twice as Nice.

I went and browsed at a couple of sales here in Lincoln and they were complete crap compared to Twice as Nice. I didn't realize how nice it was until I saw the other two and they were just junky.

I occasionally have luck at Once Upon a Child here in Lincoln, but other times I go and I find absolutely nothing. Target's been getting most of my business lately. I have the Target debit card so I get 5% off of everything, plus jeans and such are only $10-$12 to begin with. The Circo brand stuff (pants and shirts) are only $5 or so. They wash well and are cute and can be trendy which is kind of fun. That's honestly where 98% of our stuff is from. The other 2% has been from Grandma.

  • Yet another vote for Twice as Nice.

  • Here's a list:

My favorite is Munchkin Junction. Twice as Nice is good too, and obviously they are all very hit or miss. I've come out sometimes just buying a pack of socks, and other times with a laundry basket full. I don't pay more than $5 for any item usually, unless it's name brand and practically brand new because I can usually find stuff for that price on sale new. These sales piss me off sometimes though cause people think that their ugly, 90's, worn, faded sweatshirt is really worth $8. I understand people want to make money, and have to price items higher because of the money that these sales take from them just to sell at them, but still.... I think they should all have some kind of pricing structure, cause otherwise they just have a lot of overpriced crap that takes up space and wastes people's time. Reruns  is a HUGE sale. I usually spend at least an hour looking through just one size of clothes. I like going to the 50% off days at all the sales, mostly cause I'm super cheap when it comes to buying used! :) Since Reruns is so huge, I usually get a lot of stuff there on that day cause there is still a ton to pick from. Also, def. try to sign up for some kind of early shopping pass, be it first time mom, or for being a volunteer. The times when I've had early shopping passes were the times I found the most stuff.

I've always liked Big Wheel's, but lately I've really been finding a lot of good stuff at Once Upon a Child. I bought my kid 9 summer shirts there a couple weeks ago all priced at $1.50 or $1.00 and all were in really good or new condition.
