Kyle Dyer was just bit in the face by a dog on air

I just turned on the news. They had the dog that fell through the ice yesterday on with his owner and the man that rescued the dog. She was petting the dog the whole time who seemed to love it. She bent down to say goodbye and the dog barked and got her in the nose/mouth. I just kind of gasped. I hope she's ok. I wonder what's going to happen to that dog now too.

  • Hopefully nothing.  You never get in a dog's face, especially one you don't know and one that has been through a very traumatic experience recently and is unknown environment with a crap ton of people and equipment (aka TV studio.)

I hope she is okay too.  But the dog shouldn't suffer for stupid people behavior.

disclaimer: I have been bitten by a dog in the face so I feel for her, but it really wasn't the dog's fault.  It sounds like he gave her a warning nip/bite from what you said.

  • Oh no!!  I hope she's ok.
  • Oh no :o(. She's a casual friend of mine (our kid's are in school/soccer together). Hope she's ok.
  • Brooke posted on FB that she was attended to by an EMT that was there.
  • They just said that they took her to the hospital, but that she is ok. She's talking and was up walking around. They don't have anymore info though.

This.  My first thought was:  "Who thought bringing a dog fresh out of a traumatic experience into a live TV studio was a good idea?"

So true- I hope Dyer is ok, but I also hope nothing bad happens to the dog. Dogs should not be punished for behaving like a dog.  Nobody should EVER get in a dog's face, but especially a dog that does not know you and who is in a stressful situation.  Bad judgment all around.

The dog is being quarantined at Denver Animal Control (aka hell on earth for dogs in Denver.)  :(  I'm furious.  I do hope Kyle Dyer is okay, but this is just unacceptable.

Where did you find that out?! Absurd. This whole story makes me violent... and I saw a short slip of it- what was she doing in his face like that to begin with?

It's all over the news, including the Yahoo story that's on their front page.  :(

  • I've been reading the 9News FB page and fortunately there are a LOT of people who are in agreement with all of us, that getting in the dog's face was wrong and that it's an outrage that he's been quarantined.

That poor dog. What a horrible week for him and his owner. I hope there is a happy ending.

  • From what I've read it sounds like the dog's owner hadn't kept him up to date on his vaccines, specifically his rabies one. The quarantine is apparently standard procedure so that they can monitor him and make sure he doesn't show any symptoms over what's typically 10 days.

It breaks my heart that more people out there are going to think that dogs are scary and can't be trusted. They can completely be if you a.) don't push them when they are already completely stressed and b.) understand what are signs of aggression to dogs.
