Recommend a Restaurant/hall for 1st BDAY party. THANKS!
Hi nesties,
I'm starting to look for a place for Sofia's 1st Bday. I need a place that has a dance floor or something like that to get entertainment for the kids and let them run around.
I did Joaquin's at Galloping Hill which had a huge room and floor but had meager food portions and just so so.
Also it can be either buffet or per person, close to Union county please.
THANK YOU!

Re: Recommend a Restaurant/hall for 1st BDAY party. THANKS!
I would normally recommend Taste of Portugal for a party...but after having Olivia's baptism there I wasn't thrilled by the service. I had to be on top of the waiters to have them add stuff to the buffet appetizers since they were talking in the corner and weren't on top of what was running out. To me...that's why I have parties out so that I don't have to worry about that stuff. Instead I ended up spending 1/2 the night telling them what needed to be refilled, etc.
I looked into Costa del Sol for Olivia's birthday party and thought that their prices were a little high once you added things like shrimp in garlic ($4 more per person) ... Open bar was $18 per person. Depending on what you want to serve and what your budget is though...they did a great job for our wedding and the food is good.
We ended up booking at Don Pepe's in Newark on Route 21....not the fanciest nicest rooms...but well within our budget...they have rooms downstairs with dance floors.
Gran Centurians - Clark - We had CJ's Christening there. It was PERFECT!

Really? That sucks, sorry to hear that. FWIW I've never been to a party there, but we've had dinner there a bunch of times (sometimes with a rather large party) and the food and service were always awesome.
How many guests did you have, if I may ask?
We have dinner there all the time...I love their food. Olivia's baptism was 80 people...we had it in the new room that they have upstairs. The sit down portion was fine...but the appetizers were buffet and things like chicken fingers for the kids (which some adults were taking too) ran out as well as the "hot" items like shrimp in garlic. So by the time the remainder of the room got up some trays were empty. But they only got refilled when I went up to the waiters & asked them to refill them. Like I said I will continue to go there for dinner & stuff since their food is incredible...just had a bad experience with doing a big party.
