Tax Question - who is done?

Who is done?

Did you owe or get a refund or break even?

We finished last night, this is the first year I've done it myself in quite some time due to having a CPA do it for my business, but it was kind of fun and not too hard.  Excited to get my money back!

Re: Tax Question - who is done?

  • Done. Will be receiving refund.
  • I would have already been done if I did it myself but this is the last year that we are claiming DH's business so having a CPA help us since I can't do depreciation. We are getting them done next Friday. Hopefully we break even. Before we were married I always got a refund and miss having that money!
  • We are doing ours tonight with our CPA and expecting a refund once they're done.
  • See post below.  :)  We barley got anything last year, and owed for state so I'd like to have someone do them for us to see if we can get more back....we used to get a lot and so I don't know if we're doing it wrong or what now...sucks.  :)
  • I just did mine last night since the possibility of being induced tomorrow I didn't want to have to worry about them. I used turbo tax for the first time (usually use H&R Block). I liked turbo tax better. We are getting a nice refund, more than last year.

  • Not done yet but DH hates doing them with me.  I sit beside him and watch the little amount go from negative to positive and I get all clinched up.  He hates it.  My dad hated it to because I viewed it like a slot machine waiting for a big jackpot win.

It will be interesting this year with the new deduction of S and daycare in the mix.

  • DH did ours a few evenings ago.  We're getting a refund, and we need to adjust our withholdings so that we can see it in our paychecks each month instead of waiting for that annual refund.  We hadn't adjusted them since I went PT.

  • We did ours at the end of January and actually got our refund today.  Last year we paid into state, got a fed. refund.  This year we got money back for both.  We both need to adjust our withholdings as well, I'd rather see it throughout the year...

  • Ugh, I need to get my stuff together for our accountant. Ali - if you read this, I swear I won't wait until the week they're due :)

  • Done and getting a refund.  I think we need to adjust H's withholding to fix that for next year.

  • Done. Already got our Fed return, waiting on State.

  • Not done.

Anticipating owing (both fed/state combined) something between 8-10K. We always do. It is sickening. We just have a specific savings account & save into it each month for this purpose.

Can't get our employer to take enough out monthly, it has something to do with the fact that we both work at the same place. It sucks, b/c I HATE sending that fat check. Blargh.

  • Not done.  We always owe no matter how much we adjust our withholdings.  So no need to rush to get them done.

    thanks to jennied :)

  • Just did ours last night.  We are getting a decent refund.  I have been thinking abotu changing my withholdings because we are expecting a baby this year, and right now since I am "light duty" at work, I am making less money....so it would be nice to have the money now.
