Girl Scout Cookies

It's that time of year!  I think we need a poll.

What is your favorite flavor?

How many boxes do you usually order?

Where/from whom do you buy your cookies?  (Children of neighbors, friends, coworkers, tables set up in public, etc)

Do you prefer the name Samoas or Coconut deLites?  Tagalongs or Peanut Butter Patties?  Feel free to list others I can't think of.

Re: Girl Scout Cookies

  • What is your favorite flavor? It used to be Thin Mints but in the last few years I have been converted to Samoas/Caramel deLites.  I used to hate the coconut texture but in my "old age" I am growing to appreciate it.

How many boxes do you usually order? Usually 3-4 but I was good this year and stuck with 2.

Where/from whom do you buy your cookies?  (Children of neighbors, friends, coworkers, tables set up in public, etc) I buy them from my coworker's daughter.  If neighbors I knew asked me to buy some I would buy from them, too.

Do you prefer the name Samoas or Coconut deLites?  Tagalongs or Peanut Butter Patties?  Feel free to list others I can't think of. I was totally thrown off at first by the name change and how some districts still use the old ones and some the new ones.  I tend to say Samoas and Tagalongs because that's how I always knew them, but the new names are actually more descriptive so I am okay with them in the end.

  • What is your favorite flavor? Thin Mints!

How many boxes do you usually order?  Anywhere from 2-6

Where/from whom do you buy your cookies?  (Children of neighbors, friends, coworkers, tables set up in public, etc) In years past it's primarily been from co-workers' kids.  I haven't seen any around this office though so I'll have to rely on public set-ups.  I bought one box of PB Patties for DH just before Christmas from a stand in Harvard Square.

Do you prefer the name Samoas or Coconut deLites?  Tagalongs or Peanut Butter Patties?  Feel free to list others I can't think of. I don't have any preferences, I just wish they would pick one name for each and stick to 'em.

I'd rather be rock climbing or playing volleyball

  • What is your favorite flavor? Samoas/Carmel/Coconut... whatever they're called.

How many boxes do you usually order?  Maybe 2 or 3 boxes

Where/from whom do you buy your cookies?  (Children of neighbors, friends, coworkers, tables set up in public, etc) Usually from coworkers, but they're not selling them anymore! :(  This year my ILs surprised me with a box. I have to find another source though!

Do you prefer the name Samoas or Coconut deLites?  Tagalongs or Peanut Butter Patties?  Feel free to list others I can't think of. I'm sticking to the classic names (they're classic to me anyway): Samoas and Tagalongs.

    Pregnancy Ticker
  • What is your favorite flavor? Caramel DeLites

How many boxes do you usually order? Usually 2-3

Where/from whom do you buy your cookies?  (Children of neighbors, friends, coworkers, tables set up in public, etc) DH buys them from whichever coworker's kids are selling

Do you prefer the name Samoas or Coconut deLites?  Tagalongs or Peanut Butter Patties?  Feel free to list others I can't think of. I don't care but I agree with whoever said I wish they would just decide and stick with one.

  • What is your favorite flavor?
Thin Mints and Tagalongs/Peanut Butter Patties

How many boxes do you usually order?
We usually buy them 2 at a time. Sometimes multiple times per cookie season.

Where/from whom do you buy your cookies?  (Children of neighbors, friends, coworkers, tables set up in public, etc)
Public sales- no one I work with has a kid who sells them, and my friends' daughters aren't in GS.

Do you prefer the name Samoas or Coconut deLites?  Tagalongs or Peanut Butter Patties?  Feel free to list others I can't think of.
I still call them Samoas and Tagalongs, but not when I order them. I think I mentioned this in my random post last week, but my husband asked for a box of Tagalongs, and the poor GS was utterly confused. Her mom had to tell her what he meant, heh.

  • Also, the name thing definitely varies by Council/bakery. from the GS website:

Q: Why is my Caramel DeLight now called a Samoa? (or) Why are my Trefoils? now called Shortbreads?

A: Girl Scout Councils choose their licensed baker, either Little Brownie Bakers or ABC Bakers. Each of the bakers owns its cookie names, except THIN MINTS? and TREFOILS?, which GSUSA owns. So a cookie like the Trefoil / Shortbread may look and taste similar, but your local Girl Scout council determines which one will be on the market when they select their baker.

  • I don't like Girl Scout cookies anymore.  I used to like the thin mints and the caramel delights, and I would eat them if they were sitting in front of me....but I don't like them enough to buy them.

Interesting!  Last year I bought Caramel deLites from my coworker's daughter and my H bought Samoas from his coworker's daughter and they totally tasted different.  The Samoas were better.
