What can I do about this? (baseboard heat issue)

Right now our thermostat is at 65, the baby's room is saying 73 according to the Angelcare monitor, and our downstairs (split level, so it's below ground level) where I am is really cold. When I put my hand on the baseboards they are cool, but the pipe underneath is hot. I don't know anything about heating. Can anyone think of something I can do to get heat down here. Is there something I can check? I hear the heat on them, they are clicking like it's on. Also, anything I can do to keep my daughter's room from feeling too hot when the heat is on?

make sure they are all clean- vaccuum them out.

on mine, there is the cover that goes over the pipes that runs along the base of the wall...the top portion of of the cover has two slats that slide open and close...if we don't open those slats at the beginning of the season, the room doesn't get warm...

FIVE years of freezing my ass off in this room. I always checked one vent and it blew out air, the other, longer baseboard was closed. Still not sure why J's room is so hot but I will figure that out. And they all definitely need to be vacuumed.

If the fins of the baseboard do not get hot then it might be airlocked... you have to get a "key" and bleed them. We have radiators and a few cast iron baseboards and I have learned a lot in the 20 plus years I have lived in this house....most plumbers/ heat guys don't know much about them. Good Luck.
