Where's the best place in town to buy them?
I finally got an exam/script but have never bought glasses before.
Also - I'm in and out of my car a lot for work and can't imagine changing glasses all day long. Does anyone have transitions? Are they as dorky as they used to be or have they improved at all? Jason has them and they seem to work well for him....
Any other suggestions for me?
This is all new territory for me.
Getting old sucks but as my dad says.... it beats the alternative.
Our IF journey: 1 m/c, 1 IVF with only 3 eggs retrieved yielding Dylan and a lost twin, 1 shocker unmedicated BFP resulting in Jace, 3 more unmedicated pregnancies ending in more losses.
Total score: 6 pregnancies, 5 losses, 2 amazing blessings that I'm thankful for every single day.
Re: If you wear glasses...
I've always gotten mine from my eye doctor (Optical Gallery at Quincy/Chambers in Aurora).
I finally bit the bullet a few years ago and bought Rx sunglasses. It was the best decision ever! I just keep them in my car all the time so I don't lose them. And I quickly got used to changing them when I get in/out of the car. It's not a big deal for me at all.
I've never had those transition lenses, but everyone I've seen with them - they don't seem to ever get fully clear when they come inside.
I've heard good things about Zenni Optical http://www.zennioptical.com/. I've never used them, but plan to at some point. (As soon as I drag my lazy bum back to the eye doctor.)
I got mine at lens crafters. Not super happy with them. Next time I need glasses, I'm going to costco.
I'd get separate glasses and sunglasses. My mom just got rid of her transitions lenses because they take too long to change. Also, for example, I had an outdoor wedding and she wore her glasses, and they're dark in all of the pictures. Which looks kind of weird.
I recently got mine at Vision Masters up on Bellview because they take my insurance, but otherwise I think they are a bit pricey if your insurance doesn't cover any of your lenses or anything. I also have had good luck with Europtics in Park Meadows. Lens Crafters is hit or miss for me...
I don't have transitions, I just get another pair of sunglasses which adds up, but is nice.
Have fun - glasses are very stylish these days.

I get them from here:

Supah cheap, supah awesome.
DH got transitions last time, and they are much better than they used to be. I also do the super-cool thing when I am driving of putting regular sunglasses OVER my eye glasses.
Ditto! I've had great luck with them. I spent $30 total for 2 pair! :-)
I just received mine after RyanandManda's amazing suggestion (I keep forgetting to thank you mama!) and I am so in love with mine! I have tried so many glasses and have never found a pair that I really loved. I thought you couldn't go wrong with FREE, so I tried a fun and funky pair and they are perfect! Great quality, super fast shipping, easy peasy.
This is where we get all of ours from as well. My husband works in some pretty tough conditions and his cheapies from Zenni held up 100x better than the ones we paid a chunk of change for from Lens Crafters. I also bought him a pair of cut prescription aviator sunglasses with our last order.
My DH also goes here because the only brand that can be made to fit his head is Oakley and they carry a very large selection. He has magnetic sunglasses that attach to the frame of his glasses. Oakley doesn't make them so the eye gallery uses an outside company who makes them and the match/line up perfectly. I think the sunglasses cost us about $150?
