HELP me pick a new phone please

It is time to get a new phone and I am clueless.  It has to be on Verizon's network.  I would like to go with a smartphone like a Driod or iPhone.  Any thoughts? Recommendations?

  • I love my iPhone, but it's a matter of preference. You really need to just pop in to the store and play with the phones :)

  • Make a list of the features you want/that are important to you, as well as your budget, and go into a Verizon store and ask the salesperson which one they'd recommend. I love my iPhone but I'm on AT&T and I heard that it's not the same on the Verizon network.
  • Find out what network is avail. in your area. I live in a 4 g area, so the iPhone idea went out the window. I have a Thunderbolt 4 g and I really like it, VERY fast.
  • iPhone, that's my preference.

  • Ditto the others about trying out the phones in a store.  If you have 4G in your area, you might consider getting a 4G phone.  As a PP mentioned, the iPhone on Verizon is a little different; you can't talk and browse the internet at the same time.  It's something to think about, if you think that may be an issue for you.  Personally I really love my Droid and think it's much better than an iPhone, but obviously not everyone feels that way, so it's good to check the phones out for yourself!

FWIW, one of the deciding factors for me was having an actual keyboard (and being able to use flash, and view full, rather than mobile, versions of websites).  The ability to talk & browse simultaneously is a bonus, but I don't think it would have swayed me if I couldn't do it because I don't use it very often.

  • I have a Droid and love it, but I agree - you need to go to a store and play with a bunch of phones.

I used to think that until I actually starting using one.  It seems like if you go by specs some android phones would clearly beat the iphone, but from my experience the iphone has much better screen quality (which in its specs it does as well), camera (even with the same megapixels), lags much less with specs being relatively the same or better on android phones.  Apple's operating system just seems to work without all that lagging and force closes I had problems with on my android phone.

I think it depends on what you really want in a phone.  It's a very individual choice, but I am so much happier with my iphone than I was with my android phone.
