  • The Phantom Tollbooth - Norton Juster

I read it in 5th grade and fell in love with the book. It has a delightful story and is quite clever in word play and some of the concepts.

  • Where the Red Fern Grows (its a childhood favorite)
no identifiable siggy pictures anymore, thanks a lot stupid nest!

    ditto!

  • OK, I'll be the first to chime in on this one -- Pride & Prejudice.  Kid you not, I could pick it up and read it every day and still get wrapped up in it.

  • Congrats, E!  Party!!!

It's so hard to pick ONE favorite book because I love so many for different reasons, but I guess I'll go with The Little Prince.  My Dad read it to me when I was little and I've lost count on the number of times I've re-read it since.  Lots of life lessons and beautiful lines.

oooooo, this is a good one too.  I had to read in my high school french class and ended up buying a copy in french because I loved it so much....I still haven't read it in English, but I love it and I'll have to look into getting an English version since my French is very rusty!

  • Just one... ugh.

It's worth a re-read in English.  I had to buy a new copy because I wore out my first one.

  • This is so tough!

    Probably Jane Eyre.

  • So hard to choose, because I know I am forgetting some childhood/teen favorites that I read over and over. So for my Adult all-time favorite:

    Probably Outlander - Diana Gabaldon

I enjoyed it so much, I've read the whole series (so far!)

  • I have so many. . .

Catch-22 is kind of my fall back answer. I love it. But my list is so long, especially when you add in childhood favorites - The Secret Garden, A Little Princess, Ender's Game, A Wrinkle in Time, Little Women - books like those were my friends growing up, and will always be near and dear to my heart.

No more baby siggie pics. Boo.

  • To kill a mockingbird.  I never read a book twice though.
  • To Kill a Mockingbird also. And Gone With the Wind.
  • Another vote for To Kill A Mockingbird

So... what is your all time favorite book (must pick ONE)?

This is hard... The Lion, the Witch & the Wardrobe

I've returned to some of my childhood favorites as a mom - Little House series, Secret Garden, etc, but the Narnia series was my all-time favorite - but I chose the LWW since it opened my imagination up so much as a child.

Since then, my favorites are P&P and GWTW - I've read them each many times.
