S/O: Workout pants

The poll about underwear reminded me to ask about workout pants.

I'm a full-bottomed gal. Even pre-kids when I was stick thin, my butt accounted for 1/3 of my weight. LOL    Anyhow, post-kids it's gotten a bit more jiggle, and it needs a little more support during impact activities. I'm not talking about girdle-like support, just something more than cotton that gets all stretched out, etc.

Do you have any "supportive" workout pants/capris/shorts to recommend??

Re: S/O: Workout pants

  • I really like Gap's gFlex line of workout pants.  They retain their shape really well and I feel very supported in them.  They also tend to make me feel thinner, which is always a plus!  Like you, I've got booty (but also hips, thighs, and everything else!) - and I really like the way they feel.  DH also appreciates what they do for my backside, so take that as you will.

I also like how they aren't uber expensive like Lululemon or Athleta.  Call me cheap but I have a hard time spending triple digits on one pair of workout pants.  I know they last, but yikes!  The gFlex run about $50-$55/pair.  Also - I know you're in TW.  If you check out the clearance rack at the GapBody store in the mall, they usually have a few random pairs on the rack for at least 25% off, but sometimes more.  The last time I went in they had an additional 40% off clearance and I ended up snagging a pair of gFlex pants, two tanks, and some undies for around $30!

  • I like Danskin capris/pants/shorts. I get them at Walmart they run about $9-$14.

They have held their shape and have last me a couple of years.

I also like Old Navy capris/shorts/pants. I haven't had any problems with them holding their shape. They run probably $15-$35ish. I usually scope out the clearance  section and can find a few pairs for about $8-$10.

Techgear from Kohl's is pretty good too. Price range, I would guess $15-$15ish.

  • Old Navy's compression capris.  LOVE them.

  • Another vote for Danskin.  I have a pair of leggings that I've had for over 10 years.  I wore them through my pregnancy and still wear them. They're very resilient!
  • I have one pair of Nike Legend slim pants from Academy.  The fabric is thicker than my Target ones, and I love that these are available in different lengths, since I'm short.  Like the Gap ones, they are pricier than Target/Wal-Mart, but not near as pricey as some others.
