Any Accountants here? Re: taxes....
This is the first time I've ever heard this.... if your child has a Coverdell, it affects the parents ability to receive a child tax credit? Is this true? We just had a client call, she's at H&R Block & thats what the tax preparer is telling her. My first thought was to tell her to get the heck out of, but anyway... is there any truth to this?
Re: Any Accountants here? Re: taxes....
I haven't been in practice for a couple years but I don't think that would have anything to do with the ability to receive a child tax credit. My intial thought is that they can't receive the tax credit because their income is too high.
This is exactly my thought, but I'm not a tax advisor so legally I can't get into it with them. But my son has college accounts & we never ran across this... and mh & I have been in the investment business for 17 yrs & this is the first time anyone has called us about this! This couple is definitely not in the higher income range either.
