NCR: What are you reading?

I'm currently reading "Defending Jacob."  I like it, and it takes place in my hometown, so that's kind of interesting.  Not sure what I'll read next.

What are you reading, and what are you planning on next?

Re: NCR: What are you reading?

  • OOH, that book is on my list too!  I am currently just starting the Hunger Games ( i know, i am behind the 8 ball on this one).  So far so good!
  • I'm reading Just Kids by Patti Smith. Liking it so far.

I'm not 100% sure what I'm reading next but I *think* it's going to be a graphic novel - Jimmy Corrigan: The Smartest Kid on Earth

  • The final book in the Games of Thrones series. I'm really not anxious for the books to end since there was a 6-year gap between books 4 and 5. Sigh.

I meant to bring my Kindle to work today and forgot it at home. Boo. I don't want to install the app on this computer since tomorrow is my last day.

  • I just started "One for the Money" after seeing about it on The View (new Katherine Heigl movie coming out) Just finished Maine
  • Change of Heart by Jodi Picoult. I had just finished another one of hers Sing You Home.
  • I'm reading two books: The Hypnotist by Lars Kepler (very interesting, kind of along the same lines as Girl with the Dragon Tattoo but better IMO) and Wizard and Glass (#4 in the Dark Tower series by Stephen King).  Next I'm going to be reading The Night Circus.

  • Inheritance by Christopher Paolini.  It's the last in the Eragon series.  I love fantasy books!
  • I plan to start Rebecca tonight for my book club.

When I finish it I will read The 6th Man by David Baldacci, one of my favorite authors.

  • Finishing- Don't Make Me Come Up There, Quiet Moments for Busy Moms.

Next- The Essential Stay-At-Home Mom Manual

I cannot wait to start the next book as it's an author from the town we live in and it looks like a GREAT book!!!!

Change of Heart by Jodi Picoult. I had just finished another one of hers Sing You Home.

That was my favorite of all of her books.  Probably because I have a soft spot for the correctional population, but still.  Was my favorite.

I'm currently reading A Cook's Tour by Anthony Bourdain. I've had it on my nightstand forever, finally picked it up.  I like his books, this one isn't an exception so far.

  • I am reading The Glass Castle by Jeanette Walls and A Prayer for Owen Meany by John Irving. On my kindle I have A Clash of Kings by George R. R. Martin ( which I have had for at least 6 months and I am only a few chapters into it) and Shattered by Robin Wasserman which is the second in a trilogy and I am so over it. I only have a little bit to go, but I just can't bring myself to finish it.

I am reading a biography on J.R.R. Tokien with my son for his school project.

And I just picked up Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor (it is all over the Nest Book Club Board) and The Power of Six by Pittacus Lore (have no idea why I got this, didn't even read the first one, only saw the movie and it was just ok) at the library.

I have no clue why I always have so many books going at one time anymore. Ugh.

I've read both of these (and most of her others).  I really like her work, and I was lucky enough to get to meet her a few years ago.  :0)

  • I just finished The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks, I loved it.

Next up is Dreaming of Mr. Darcy.

Me too! It was also interesting since I am married to a cell biologist :)  I just downloaded Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close, but the reviews talk about it being very jumpy.

I am from Maryland and lived near Crownsville Hospital, so I was fascinated by that.  The ethical dilemma still has me thinking.

Stick with it, it gets better.

I just finished Divergent, and started Miss Perigrine's Home for Peculiar Children.  I'll read Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close next.

  • I love the scandanavian writers like The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo series, so if you liked them and the Lars Kepler books you ahve to check out Jo Nesbo.  I have read all the books that are available here now and really enjoyed them, especially the 2 latest books- The Snowman and the newest on is the Leopard.
  • Just finished:  "Honolulu"  and "Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe" and they were both great!

Currently reading:  "The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society" - enjoying it so far

    Next:  Not sure...

  • I've got three going simultaneously right now; just finished "The Help" and "Spider Bones".

    "Shatter" by Elizabeth C Mock

"In the Company of Heroes" by Michael Durant (the pilot from "Black Hawk Down")

The second High Heels mystery by Gemma Halliday

When it's all said and done, what matters most is your relationships with other people; without good friends and family, what's the point?

Yes! This book was amazing! You need to read Where She Went now (it was good but If I Stay was better!)
