Switching foods

I got California Natural dry yesterday and ran out of the Meow Mix the previous owner had today.  I have 3 bags of Meow Mix bought to transition but I also got wet Meow Mix thinking I'd stick with the same brand wet to see how they liked it.  Would it be better to return ALL the dry food and transition with the wet only of the same brand of should I transition one thing at a time?

Re: Switching foods

  • You shouldn't need 3 bags of Meow Mix to transition. It shouldn't take more than a couple of weeks for a slow transition. You'll start with a few days of 75% Meow Mix:25% CN; then 50:50 MM:CN; then 25% MM:75% CN; then all CN. I'd return 2 of the bags of MM and all the wet. Changing wet foods isn't like changing dry where you really need to mix them. I'd just go straight to whatever new wet food you'd like to use.

  • I would return all but one bag of dry, then transition them to CN on dry food, then buy CN wet if i wanted them to get wet food sometimes.
