Re: Poll: What one store do you wish your area had?

  • Ikea!  I want one here so bad, but I doubt it will ever happen.
  • I would like to have a good bra place that does real fittings. I want a super Target and a Trader Joe's that I hear so much about but have never been to. Oh and IKEA.
  • I hear a lot about Wegman's and I wish we had one!

Also, Loehmann's... I don't even know what one is but I hear they are great.

We are blessed with Ikea and (two) Trader Joe's for our coveted stores, so I guess it's an equal trade off.

    OH!  And it's not a store, but Popeye's and/ or Chik-fil-A.

  • I second Ikea--- we have one 2 hours away, but I wish there was one closer. Also, Pat Catans (it is a craft store)

Come visit me.  I work a block away from their flagship NYC store :)   I didn't /don't even know if Loehmann's exists outside NY, do they?  It makes me think of my Grandma and my Aunts who were always totally stylin, but never paid full price :)

I just wish my town had any big store sometimes.  Most of the time I like living in a quaint town without big busy routes/streets with big stores.  But, when I kind of just want to run out to Target, I don't love having to drive 20 mins, park in the mall, blah blah.

  • I have everything I need, I guess I'm lucky... Super Target, IKEA, Outlets, Malls, Trader Joes, Jungle Jims, Whole Foods, Crate & Barrel, Chik-fil-a, Chipotel, Five Guys, etc. etc. etc.

Cincy is the place to be. ;)

    Until 6:00 at night.

Then the whole town shuts down.

  • Within a 20 minute drive from my house?  All of them.  The only national-chain type stores or restaurants that are located in my nearest town are McDonald's & Pizza Hut.  There is a Wal-Mart & a Lowes in the next town over (about a 20 minute drive), and that's it.  Everything else is at "the mall," which is an hour away and the closest location for any of the big stores.  There is an actual mall, but there are also 3 or 4 other plazas with stuff like Old Navy, Target, B&N, Best Buy, etc.

  • We have very little.  If I only get one choice, then it is definitely Trader Joes.

  • If we can choose restaurants I will give up all of the above mentioned choices for a carrabba's!
  • everything it seems...But the Loft would save me.

FWIW: shopping in my area is limited to Target, JCPenny, Kohls, and Old navy

  • Clothing chocices kind of suck. I would love to have a Banana Republic, J.Crew, or Nordstrom.

  • Absolutely Ikea.... I think I'd end up living there.

  • 20 min = drive halfway through the state of RI so my answer's a bit weird because the nearest Trader Joe's is about 30 min from me & I've been there like twice since it opened.  I live right on the RI/MA border & do 95% of my shopping in 2 towns in MA; Trader Joe's is on the other side of the bay (horrors!).  If they opened a Trader Joe's in 1 of those 2 places I'd be there all the time.  Funny thing is when I lived in the Midwest I thought nothing of driving an hour to shop somewhere.

  • we need a Trader Joe's desperately. I'm actually really annoyed the TJ gods are proposing one for the OTHER side of Cola (like a 45-50 minute drive). That side of town already has everything, including Earth Fare, Whole Foods and Fresh Market. My side of town would totally LOVE a TJ and they would have NO competition.

And selfishly I'd like a baby store. BBB or BRU, doesn't matter. We have a Target, but it isn't really even a super-Target.

  • There are Loehmann's in Los Angeles.  However, a 20 min drive in Los Angeles will get you all over 4 miles cuz of traffic, ,so based on that, there's a lot I wish we had in our area.  However, most of these places are still in Los Angeles, just may take about 45 min to get there in traffic.
  • There are so many since we have nothing but Wal-Mart and K-Mart anywhere in the county I live in. I always have to drive at least 45 minutes plus to get anywhere with any decent stores, and we don't have one single craft store in our county which stinks. So, my list is Target, Joann's, Michael's, Trader Joe's, Marshall's/TJ Maxx/Ross, The Container Store, and Whole Foods. Restaurant wise, any new restaurant would do, we are lacking in that dept also. The best restaurant we had in the county was the one I worked at and it closed at the end of Oct because our lease was up.

and that is what I love about RI :)

  • Ikea (3 hours away), Super Target (don't know if there's even one in Ohio) and Whole Foods (closest is 2 hours away).

  • The Limited and Eddie Bauer. The closest Limited is in the valley and takes like an hour to get to, and Eddie Bauer is about an hour south of me. It's kinda weird to me that there aren't more of those.
  • Ikea - I think the nearest one is like 6 hours away.  I'd also like a World Market...there's one about 45 minutes away and its hard to justify the gas sometimes, but I LOVE World Market.

  • There is a Loehmann's in Sacramento.

I think I have everything pretty close to me as well. What I don't have 20 min from my home, I have within 10 min from my work.

  • Trader Joe's, Whole Foods, Chipolte, Sephora

TJ and Whole Paycheck are actually only about 20 minutes away but downtown which increases the traffic and lack of parking factor.

The nearest Sephora is probably 35-45 minutes away in almost every direction.

Since I'm in the middle of suburban sprawl hell, I really just wish things were grouped together. I feel like one good one is here and the another one is 30 minutes in the other direction.

  • Trader Joe's. One is about 40 minutes from my house, and so want one within 10-15
  • I want a Target and Trader Joe closer. I've never been ti IKEA, so I'm not sure on that one.

  • My hometown has a Wegmans and it opened when I was in HS and OMG I love it!  I wish there was one in my area in MA cause they have a great selection!!
  • TJ's- there is one about 45 mins away but I would never driver that far to grocery shop and I would also like Hobby Lobby. I have never seen one and when I searched locations the closest was like an hour and a half in a direction I never head. We have JoAnnes and Michaels, but the way you all talk about it I would love to check it out!

WHAT!? Where the heck is the super target in Cincinnati?

  • A Trader Joe's. There is one about 35 minutes from me, which I'm not going to drive to go grocery shopping. They also need bigger carts, Ellie's carseat takes up the whole cart, and I'm not going to put her in the red thing they have on top for infants (the thing they put on top, not the place that they sit and the legs go through).

Cincinnati has a lot....but it can be a while to get there.
