Cupcakes?

C thinks that birthdays = cupcakes.  I will be downtown Monday for work and wanted to pick up a few for DHs birthday (instead of making a dozen...because we don't need them).

I don't want Crave - what other suggestions do you have?  I also would likely skip Sprinkles because the area is a mess around there - unless that has changed and it is easier to get in/out of Highland Village.

Re: Cupcakes?

  • I was thinking Sugarbaby's but they are closed Monday...is there one in Rice Village?
  • What about Central Market/HEB?

  • Dessert Gallery on Kirby? I've never bought cupcakes there but I like their cakes!
My big boy is bounding towards 3! Hoping to add a sibling. image Hipster dog is not impressed.
  • Dessert Gallery? I like they frostings more than anyone elses.
Baby Birthday Ticker Ticker on my phone
  • Celebrity Cupcakes is in Rice Village. Horrible customer service, but good cupcakes.

  • Sugarbaby's was my favorite, then I had a cupcake from Frosted Betty Cupcakes. They are amazing! They have a shop in the Heights, but I haven't been there. I always buy their cupcakes at the downtown Farmers Market.

  • Frosted Betty Cupcakes are the best I have had.

Dessert Gallery was good but nothing like Frosted Betty

  • Darn it!  Both Celebrity & Frosted Betty are closed on Monday.

I may go to Sweet in Town & Country.

I'll have to keep Frosted Betty in mind for client gifts. I try to change it up - my new fave thing is to get gourmet popcorn.

  • What is Sweet?!?

If you're coming this way to Town & Country, might I suggest Ooh La La.  It's across from Cafe Express and is DELISH.  I bought two cupcakes from there yesterday for my mom's birthday.  I got the Strawberry Amaretto (daily special) and the Nilla Choco (vanilla cupcake with chocolate icing).  Both were great, esp. the strawberry.  Highly recommend; I will be going back there!

  • I think Sugarbabies cupcakes are dry and totally not worth the $

Frosted Betty is good and What's Up Cupcake in the Heights is also very good. They have a shop on 20th which is closed on Mon too, but also a food trailer that sets up around town. You might call them and see if the trailer is out on mondays

  • Sugar babies, meh.  I wanna taste these frosted betty things!

I don't love the crave/sprinkles type of cupcake, honestly I like a good chocolate cupcake with froofy white buttercream.  I'm easy.

Another vote for Frosted Betty.  Cupcakes are great and their cake balls are even better.
