moms of kids with breathing issues at a young age

did they develop asthma. this has been thrown out at us at the peds that because of his bronciloitus (sp) and possible whooping cough he may develop asthma (or may not-they said its hard to tell) just trying to figure out if the odds are in or against his favor on this one.

Re: moms of kids with breathing issues at a young age

  • my son had pneumonia twice before he turned 1 and he's 2.5 now and hasn't had anymore issues.
  • Sorry to hear that about little Cole. Poor guy and mommy! But yes, my son had RSV at 5 months and was hospitalized for it and now has asthma. Everytime he has a cold he is back on his inhaler. It sucks!
  • Brayden had rsv at 9 months and pnemonia at 14 months. He was diagnosed before 2 with asthma (which is very early). I hope Cole grows out of it.

  • yes Ryan had it and was diagnosed at almost 5 with asthma, I am sorry good luck but its been OK for us!

  • now i'm nervous :/ i thought it would have been an immediate type thing if the 2 were connected.
  • D had pneumonia at 5 months. Got asthmatic sx with every cold and allergy thereafter. Was diagnosed with asthma at 5. And now at 7 is outgrowing the diagnosis...only getting asthmatic symptoms with spring allergies the incidence of asthmatic symptoms with colds has decreased significantly.  It is very common to grow out of an asthma diagnosis, ESP when there is no family history. They don't really call it asthma until about 4/5 by the way

  • Corey started with asthmatic bronchitis sometimes around 4 or 5.  Whenever he gets sick if he doesn't kick it right away it turns into this.  He is diagnosed as "exercise induced" asthma.  Before he hits the ice he has to use 2 puffs of his inhaler.  Or I should say he is supposed to.

But he didn't start very young like Cole's age.

Where in world would you like me to ship you? image My boys - I am so screwed in about 7 years. What's the difference between a hockey mom and a pitbull? LIPSTICK !
  • both boys were hospitalized 2x before they were 1 yrs old  brendan is on maintenance inhalers every day. connor only needs it when he gets sick so it can go either way...
