Recommend your washer and dryer

We are on the market for a new washer and dryer... I have heard good and horrible stories about the front load ones, so I don't know what I want. I know I want a hand wash option and a drying rack... does anyone have a set they recommend?

Re: Recommend your washer and dryer

  • I love our LG front loaders.  They were about $1000 total,, but they're great.  We've stacked them for more floor space.  Definitely would recommend to anyone.
  • I have front load in our summer home, hate it!

Top load Whirlpool Cabrio HE at our primary home, love it!

  • We love our LG front loaders.  I wish I had a soak option.  That's the only thing I miss; so I'd see if I could get a FL with a soak function if I was shopping again.  If you want to add things after the cycle starts, be sure to find a washer with a pause button.  Also, with a FL, you have ot leave the washer open for it to dry between loads.  If you can't do that, it will get moldy.  Ours stays open, and there's no mold or smell.

I had a top loading HE, and it was the worst appliance I've ever owned.  If you look at them, I'd highly recommend finding one with good reviews from people who have owned it 4+ years.

  • I have a top load whirlpool. It automatically weighs the laundry to save on water. It's estimated yearly cost to run is $13. That is using it for 8 loads a week. I love it!

  • Another vote for the LG frontloader.  It's a wonderful machine.
