We've had our rescue, Wylie, for two weeks now and he has been a perfect angel... until yesterday. We had been baby-gating him in the kitchen with a couple toys, a kong, a blanket, some music, and a bit of water. Yesterday he decided to prove that he could jump the baby gate and proceeded to relieve himself all over our living room, chew through my husband's headphones, destroy my knitting project, eat some mexican gum which I have no idea where he found it, eat some of our fake logs, and destroy my husband's slippers. We had to take him to the emergency vet because he broke out in hives but luckily the gum he found didn't have anything toxic! I know this was probably our fault because he was bored, had seperation anxiety, or something... So today, we put him in a room we have with hardwood floors and a window ledge that he likes to sit on and look out of with some of his chew toys that he can't tear apart and stuff that smells like us.
I think tonight we're going to go get a crate. I also signed us up for some obedience classes while at the vet because I'm thinking he has some confidence issues maybe? He sometimes is skiddish around strangers and may growl if he's unsure but he seems to like other dogs.
I'm just frustrated and needed to vent so thank you for listening..
I know I'm a newbie on this board and I appreciate how nice you all have been to all the newbies around lately... It makes it a nice board to start posting on.
