"No child left behind" waived for NJ
Is this a good thing? A bad thing? A "wait and see" thing?
I understand the arguments for why "No Child Left Behind" fails. And I understand why it was originally created/what it was meant to solve.
What I don't see if what NJ had to plan/promise for the waiver and what exactly it means for schools in NJ. Does anyone have better insight? Opinions?
Re: "No child left behind" waived for NJ
From what I understand and in my experience, yes, it's good thing. NCLB, though its purposes were admirable, was not at all beneficial to those students for whom the plan was implemented in the first place.
However, Christie's motives for ditching it are, on paper, enticing and lovely. In practicality, I think it will continue to hurt education.
