Am I Being Oversensitive?

H went to a Gymboree type class this morning and one of the kids there was sick with a cold; coughing and sneezing everywhere and just grossness coming out of his nose.  Can't you keep the kid home please?  I know it's not a big deal, but he was outwardly sick with a cold.  I wouldn't take H to that kind of a place if she had outward symptons like that.   If you need to get out of the house, can't you go to Target or something a little less "hands on". Just annoys me.  I'll step down off my soap box.

Re: Am I Being Oversensitive?

  • Considering E and I were sick for 2 weeks between the both of us, he throwing up and having 104 fever for 4 days, I'm with you. I know it was because I was the class mom right before it happened and I was sitting next to a kid with green snot all over his face and it was all over his face because he wiped it there with his hands.

Unless you're a brain surgeon and need to operate, keep your very sick kid home. I stayed home from work monday because E couldn't go to school. I lost money- probably a few hundred dollars or more, but I wasn't sending him to school like that. A bit of a clear runny nose? A cough? Ok. But, definitely infection-like sick? NO WAY.

  • it's a cold.

proof that i make babies. jack, grace, and ben, in no particular order

    it's a cold.

yes, I know, but then we all get it, and she's miserable.  If it was something more "mandatory' I'd agree with you, but to a gym class, not necessary.

  • I'm not one of those moms who doesn't want my kid to ever get sick, but I do get annoyed with sick kids at Gymboree.  It's just not necessary.  We had a class this morning as well, and the instructor actually took the time to say that if you see a child who clearly is sick, please tell her and she'll ask them to leave.

  • Try being a public school teacher where parents send their kids bc they dont want to take the day off of work. Its insane!
  • No I'd be really annoyed too.  Really annoyed.
Where in world would you like me to ship you? image My boys - I am so screwed in about 7 years. What's the difference between a hockey mom and a pitbull? LIPSTICK !
  • i would be annoyed too. it is just a cold, colds happen. but at the same time- having a sick kid sucks, it sucks to be sick, if i can avoid getting someone sick i do. Going to something like Gymboree is totally avoidable. It'd be better to just go to a park or somewhere open and spaced out that day and do a makeup class another day. It's different than a playdate even because you know that those people at least want to see you. But randoms at a kids class don't really care if you stay home, it makes sense in my head at least lol
  • It's a cold.  If I kept Abby home from Gymborree everytime she had a cold, we would never be there.  It's part of life.  I know the Gymboree I went to keeps it very clean and was constantly cleaning.  Kids get sick, it sucks, but its winter its bound to happen.
