Ordered something and it didn't arrive... what to do?

In December, I ordered a Colorado History CD and songbook online from the person who wrote the music.  It was ordered through the school secretary with a school credit card. As far as I know, it never arrived, and no one in the office remembers it arriving.  However we have had a problem with items disappearing in our school (dozens of reams of paper, a big box of books from Amazon, etc) so I don't know if it was never sent or if it disappeared once it got here.

The secretary has called and left several messages, which have not been returned. I just sent my second email, this time going for the pity card (the kids will be so heartbroken if we can't do our Colorado History musical, etc).

If I don't hear back this time, what should I do? Should we try to get the cc charges reversed, or not since we know that sometimes things do "disappear" at the school? I'm not sure who would want a Colorado History music cd bad enough to steal it though.

  • I would try and get your money back.  It does stink if someone took it, but bottom line is that you ordered something, never received it and should be reimbursed.
  • If that person can't give you the courtesy of returning calls or emails, I certainly would not give him the benefit of the doubt that it was sent.  I say dispute the charges and let him prove that he mailed it and that it was received.

ETA:  I would also probably use that as leverage to try to get in touch one more time by saying "I've sent x number of emails and we've called x number of times with no response.  If I do not hear back from you within the next 48 hours, I will be disputing the credit card charges."

    This.  Something definitely sounds off.

  • Yep, call the credit card company and dispute the charge.  If the merchant can prove it was sent, there's your answer.  Otherwise, wouldn't feel bad.

  • I'm fine with disputing the charges, other than the fact that I REEEAALLLLLLLLY want the stupid CD!!!!!  I don't think it's available for purchase anywhere else.  Angry
