potty training with diapers?

What do you think of potty training with doggy diapers? Effective? This is how I envision this: puppy tries to potty on the floor, then you swiftly bring them outside to show where he's supposed to go. Essentially doing the same as you would without the diaper, but this way you wont have a mess along the way.
Thoughts? We are fostering an 8wk old puppy and will be getting him tomorrow, so starting to brainstorm ahead of time! Thanks!

yeah that was the other way I saw this happening...the dog getting confused. I thought I'd get other opinions before I tried either way.
Yes there will be accidents (and that just comes with having a puppy) but you clean them up and take the dog outside immediately and praise to high heaven when they do potty outside.
Set a timer (we used our microwave timer) and take the puppy out every 15 or 20 minutes. After a young puppy drinks water the longest they can hold it is about 20 minutes so take them out before those 20 minutes are up so that they can be successful. Also, tether the puppy to you so you can catch any accidents in the act and swiftly bring them outside to finish, get praised and a treat. We didn't do this stuff right away with our first and she took awhile to train. We did all that from day 1 with our second and she was pretty much potty trained by 16 weeks of age.
Puppies are a lot of work but fun too! Good luck.

The first time a pooplosion dries on his ass and you are cutting dried poo out of his fur you will eat your words. Trust me.
