NCR: What Are You Getting DH for Valentine's Day?

I'm stumped. I feel like I used all my good gift ideas at Christmas! What are you getting your DH's?

Re: NCR: What Are You Getting DH for Valentine's Day?

  • Just a card.  We've never exchanged gifts for V-day.
  • Just a card.  I'll probably make him gumbo too, since that's his favorite.  We're not big into the holiday and have had lots of unforseeable expenses as of late.
    No Siggy

  • I got him a DVD of Hannibal - it was the movie we went and saw our first Valentine's Day together.

LBB got him an Bon Iver cd.

  • A card and I normally bake some sort of special treat for him.

  • No gifts. We're cooking a huge "cheat day" meal for us on Saturday night. :-)
  • We don't even exchange cards anymore. Our gift to each other is the sushi we'll be eating for dinner. :)

This usually.    This year I decided to order a mini cake from the shop that made our wedding cake.

  • I am hoping that I find time to have the kids help me make his favorite cookies.

  • I'm doing a mixed 6 pack of imported beers. We're not big on big gifts and I thought that might be fun.
  • I got him a Chaps pull over, a Chaps sweater, new sunglasses and I will get him some fun beers from a local brewery.

  • I got him a card and some coconut lindt truffles. I usually don't get him chocolate but I saw the coconut ones and that's his favorite so I picked them up. We are also going out to brunch together on Sunday.

Where did you find them?  MH also really likes coconut, but I have never seen coconut Lindt truffles.

  • I found a wonderful card three weeks ago and am going to cook him a special meal.  My birthday is two days before and he always takes me out for that each year so I feel guilty having two nice meals out so close or him getting two nice gifts so close.  So,Valentine's Day is kind of my thing for my husband!!!  It works for us!!
  • He saves all his concert and sports ticket stubs, I got him a book that holds them.

  • We normally don't exchange but I found some stuff I 'lost' that I forgot to give him for Christmas and his bday - a Nike + running watch, a rapid charger thing for iPhone, a running jacket.

That's what I did last year!  It was our first married Valentine's Day.  This year, we will prob exchange cards and maybe a small gift.

  • Just a card. We don't do valentines day. Not our thing.
  • I usually get him something small, just not sure what yet. He usually gets me something a little bigger, and we go out to a nice dinner.

Just at my local grocery store (Giant) in the Valentine's section! There was a variety pack too that had coconut, dark chocolate, milk chocolate and one other flavor!

  • I bought a box of candy and totally plan on eating part of it :)
  • We decided to buy snow skis for our joint v-day present. I will also give DH a card with a small bag of candy treats.
  • No idea!  I'll get him a card, and make something nice for dinner (maybe risotto, or lobster), and probably a nice dessert.
  • We got tix to see West Side Story.  We will also go out to eat before the show.

  • I usually make him candy. I'm still so tired all the time, I may do something storebought. And a card. We have always just done chocolate and a card. We also have a nice dinner. We've found that the "special menus" at restaurants usually mean crabby overworked service, delayed seating due to overbooking and a lower standard of food. Now we spend some money on a nice dinner at home and break out the waterford and china.

  • A card, a package of his favorite cinnamon dusted chocolate covered almonds from a little chocolate shop our here.

We are (and by we, I pretty much mean I) cooking a nice dinner Tuesday night - steak, crab legs, risotto, roasted broccoli, cream puffs for dessert.

    YesYes

So true.  We much prefer a nice meal at home to a sub par and overpriced 'special menu'.

  • probably tickets to something...not sure what yet...
  • From DS a candy "tackle box" from Dylan's Candy Bar in NYC since our son's name is Dylan and DH loves to fish

From me, a Superbowl shirt since he is a huge Giants fan
