Dog Walker...how much does it cost?
We're moving to the Baltimore area soon and I'm considering applying for a job in DC. I'd have to leave in the morning by 6:45 and no one would be home until 5. I understand this varies by area, I'm just wondering what the average price is for someone to come in and take them for a walk mid-day. I'm just trying to figure out if it would be worth it to take the job, I could probably get rid of a car so we'd lose that expense.
Re: Dog Walker...how much does it cost?
I'm in Boston (another east coast city, so it might be similar to Baltimore/DC, but maybe not). For a group walk (a walk with no more than 3 dogs), our walking company charges $15 for 30 minutes; $18 for 40 minutes; $22 for 60 minutes; and $28 for 90 minutes. Individual walks (if your dog doesn't get along with others or something) are a little more ($18 for 30 minutes up to $34 for 90 minutes). If you have a second dog (like us), the second dog is only $5 more regardless of how long the walk is. So, for a 30 minute walk, we pay $20 (base price of $15 + $5 for the second dog). HTH!
Jealous! I love Baltimore...grew up there and spent some fantastic years living downtown.
If you're looking at someone bonded and insured, it'll probably be $15 a day for a brief walk. At least. We pay a trusted neighbor $5 a day to come over at lunch time to let our dogs out to pee (no walk). A walk would be $10. Then again, he's not bonded or insured, and we're in a super low COL area.
Where in Baltimore are you looking?

We actually bought a home in Catonsville (not too far outside of Baltimore). I'm really not that familiar with the area, I've been to the inner harbor a few times but that's about it. My H is taking a government job near Baltimore and I was looking at one that's in DC. I couldn't leave the dogs for that long during the day though, so since I could take the train to work I could get rid of my car which would free up enough money that I could totally justify paying someone $75-$100 a week to walk them. Plus, they love to be outside so any time they can go out is a plus.

When in Boston I paid $10 for about a 30 minute walk, but she loved my dog and would often just do an hour or so with other clients. I did not mind.
I have no idea what DC area would cost as I think of it is as much HCOL than Boston.
