And would you recommend it?
My sweet SIL bought me this one for XMas: http://www.amazon.com/Maxi-Matic-ERC-003ST-Elite-Gourmet-Cooker/dp/B0006A0GMQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1329000279&sr=8-1
Notice the reviews? They're spot on. I used it twice - worked great - and now it's dead. Seeing that this is the norm for that brand, I'm just going to toss it and buy another brand.
Thanks!
Re: What brand rice cooker do you have?
Yikes, I am so sorry to hear that! I've only ever had Tatung rice cookers. They work great and my rice comes out perfect! We also use it as a steamer. My family came to the States over 30 years ago and they still use the same one!! My is, or at least very similar to, this one:

I believe my parents have the 30-year-old version of this one:

I had a higher end Aroma version and it worked horribly until it was knocked off the kitchen island in a tragic "accident."
Now, I have an Aroma 8 cup. It has worked well. I've only had it since December. It was only $20.
If I cared more for longevity, I would definitely go zorijushi. But I go through phases where I don't have rice for months so I don't care for now.
