In addition, The Nest community member's avatars will be replaced with generic default avatars. If you wish to revert to your original avatar, you will need to re-upload it via The Nest.

Thank you.

Could you tell me more about Veritas and what you like about it? Is it similar to a co-op? I'm planning to homeschool Cooper and I'd like to start exploring my options.

Re: *LizzyB*

  • Sure! I have to admit, my friend that works there absolutely raves about it, so I'm probably a bit biased. From what I understand, everything is taught from a Christian worldview. They learn Biblical history alongside world history. The curriculum is really structured around a child's developmental stages and abilities and natural inclinations to explore. My girlfriend teaches 3rd grade, but she says the curriculum she teaches is similar to what is taught at the 5th grade level in the public schools she worked in.

I love that the school's goal is to be part of a team with the parents to educate the child. The school is working on expanding campuses and developing their extracurricular activities.

Their website is pretty informative: http://veritasclassical.com/

I'm a public school teacher, but I'm excited by all the growing options that we have in terms of how to educate our children, whether it be homeschooling, charter schools, etc. Public schools can be amazing, but they're not the only way.
