I dont want to pay for my vet to do it anymore.
I have 2 cats.
My female has a fused nail on both of her front paws.
My male is a polydactal and has like 11 nails on each paw.
My female is pretty good at sitting still but not my male.
Any suggestions?
Re: Cat nail help
We also have a polydactal with an enormous amount of toes. I'm not sure about your female with the fused nail - I'd be a little iffy on doing that one myself.
But, anyway, I have my FI hold the cat by the scruff of its neck. My one cat is big so he also supports her bottom, but mostly letting her hang. They have to feel the "hanging" feeling in order to chill. Once you're holding them up by their scruff, they won't bite, scratch, or even move. Do it fast. I'd say we get a cat done in under 45 seconds.
I still pay my vet once in a while when I get tired of doing it. But they do it the same way. One tech holds the cat up, the other cuts.

Thanks for the advice guys!!
My kittys do not like treats. is that weird?
My cat doesn't either. Never has, so I don't think its weird.
Nope. Lily and Cooper love them, KittyCat never did much and Spencer won't eat them at all. Weird cats. For Kitty, he just got tons of extra love after nail time. It was his favorite reward :-) But then again he would let me do ANYTHING do him so he was an easy one!
Ok that is good to know.
Everyone always says reward them with treats and I am like ummmm they dont like them.
Maybe they'd like a "people" food as a reward vs the typical commercial cat treat? My cats went more insane than anything over the freeze-dried turkey and buffalo treats I got for our dog. They also go apesh!t over canned tuna (packed in water).

Cat burrito so the cat cant squirm.
We trim all 8 kitty paws and it takes about 3 minutes every 2-3 weeks. I cant imagine paying someone to do it, but then, we have had them since they were 8 weeks and they know the drill. They just lay there while we trim.
my 1.5 year old it great we have had her since she was teeny tiny.
It is the one that showed up on our door step that we have issues with
