Using melted chocolate chips as dipping chocolate

I am planning to make some sugar cookies and would like to dip them in chocolate and then refrigerate to set.  Is there any reason regular melted chocolate chips would not work?

Re: Using melted chocolate chips as dipping chocolate

  • Semi-sweet?  You may want to buy higher-quality ones and add a bit of shortening to smooth it out.  I had anawful time with white chocolate chips over the holidays, they must have changed the recipe because they were melting all funny.

  • baking chocolate works much better....especially with white chocolate

  • Just add a little vegetable oil to smooth it out and make it easier to dip.  Make sure you don't use olive oil because it gives it a funny taste.

  • i do this all the time- just add some crisco to the chips as the melt, as others have suggested.

Same here and I've heard that a lot. I got to the point where I'm done with white choc. for a while!
