Baby gates and surgery question...

We are looking to get a baby gate to block our stairs for when we adopt our dachshund. Ours stairs have a 4 ft. opening and we would want one that has a swinging door easy enough for kids to open so we wouldn't have to take it down each time we need to go through. Could you point us in the right direction? Thanks!

Also, my other dog Magic is having his neuter surgery on Tuesday. He is a very active dog and I'm not sure how I'm going to keep him still and calm for recovery. He's used to jumping on the couch and beds and I don't know how to keep him from doing that. He hates being picked up but he'll have to get used to it I guess. Any advice? He's never been crate trained... Thanks again!

Re: Baby gates and surgery question...

  • I've seen those types of gates at Target before but don't know brand names...it seems they're pretty common though, so they shouldn't be too hard to find :)

Could you guys get an x-pen to keep him confined a little bit without crating him?  It's like a set of fencing that can be arranged in a circle of varying sizes-I'm pretty sure they're sold at Petsmart/Petco/etc.
