RSVP etiquette....

How many days past the RSVP deadline do you think it is acceptable to still respond and plan to attend a party?  This party is not an at home party but one at an on site location.

The deadline for Kira's party was 2/6.  Her party was 2/11.  I had people responding on 2/10 at 8pm saying they were coming.  Even worse one called at 11:50am on 2/11 and asked to bring a sibling.

What do you think?

I think that when it is clear that it is someplace that would require a head count maybe a day or two past the RSVP date. The people that called you the night before and the of would have gotten a big fat no.

That's pretty crappy. Unless they were close friends or family, I would've told them it was too late.

I think a day or two after the deadline would be alright (though annoying). Calling the night before AND asking to bring another person is really tacky/rude IMO.

I would be pissed if someone RSVP that late. Don't they understand that you need head counts for food etc??

if it was a party at my house or something - I'd be annoyed at such a late RSVP but whatever, I'd say "sure, come on over." If it was a party at a place where I had to give head counts and had to pay per person and so on, then I'd say "no" - that's just rude. In that type of situation, anything beyond really a day or two after the RSVP date is really pushing it in my opinion.
