Re: B&M Monday!

  • I have two:

    1) It was SO pretty snowing big fluffy flakes last night. This morning, it's patchy slushy gross. I'm so bummed.

    2) The Grammys were FULL of great music last night. Even Chris Brown who I think is absolute pond scum performed great music. All different genres. Then Nicki Minaj gets on stage and writhes and screams and tries to be as offensive as possible, and that's called music, too? I just don't get it. Some of her radio songs are fun, but seriously... you can't put her on the same stage as Tony Bennett and Paul McCartney and act like they're even REMOTELY performing the same art. It was just disgusting.

But I also have a happy:

    Tomorrow is Gotcha Day!!

    imageimg
  • I agree Chelsea, I could not believe what I was seeing last night during her performance.

I dont have much today, I had a great time at my work party and Wendi's wedding over the weekend.  I even came out with a pic of Matt and I that I really like (first one since our own wedding) thank you to Stephie for taking it!  My voice is still going in and out so that is a little sucky.

  • Chelsea - Best of luck tomorrow! Excited for you!

I'm so glad the snow didn't stick. We are leaving Thursday and I don't want three days of unpaid leave.

I've notived that Whitney Houston's death is kind of down played. I know she was a wreck towards the end, but I really loved her back in the day. Maybe it's just me not being near TV and stuff this weekend.

  • Well, I was going to complain about the lip gloss and sequins all over my room from the dance competition, but I found a little note from one of my high school friends on my desk and it definitely brightened my day (she was in Latin with me!).

I had a great time at Wendi's wedding and had a fun time with all the girls from TK/TN.  And to those that commented the other night:  I totally agree that Bill should be the Priceline Negotiators assistant.

    Bobbileigh,

I'm glad that Stephie got a great picture for you and Matt.  There have been a couple of times that Bill and I got a picture together and I was extremely disappointed with how they turned out.

I'm feeling the polar opposite.  It's out there, trust me :)

  • Nicki Minaj...that was the oddest thing I have ever seen.  She wasn't even singing.  WEIRD.

My ears feel like they have Rice Krispies in them.  Snap-Crackle-Pop!

I set a (very small) goal of working out 2 hours per week for the month and I was short by 30 something minutes last week.  I'm disappointed but I shouldn't have even been working out with the crud I have.  Probably one of the reasons I still have it, which resulted in a sucky weekend.

The City of Lewisville had their 'Friends of' something book sale this weekend and we just so happened to catch it.  I got 15 books for $15 and the bad part about this is that they all have to be put on the back burner in addition to the March book because I need to read the book for February but I just received notice that the Mindy Kaling book I requested from the library is in and I have to pick it up by Thursday and then I have 3 weeks.  I guess it's a good scheduling conflict to have.

  • I dont have anything really to B&M about. Hubby and I had a great weekend.

I thought the Grammys last night were amazing. However, the whole Nicki Minaj performance was too much to watch. I loved when Adele performed. She looked so regal.

We're moving in 2 weeks, and I'm super excited. We're downsizing, but 2 bedrooms is really too much for us.

  • Chelsea - YAY for tomorrow and I wish my internet was working better so I can stalk your blog!

Ladies who went to Wendi's wedding - you all looked beautiful!

Grammy's - I haven't finished them yet, but what I did see was good.  I loved the sparkly, sequined gowns last night.  I thought Carrie Underwood looked stunning.

My weekend was super de duper busy and I didn't get everything done that I wanted too.  We did clean up the office and went through the filing cabinets... that took about 4 hrs.  UGH... but now it's done. :)  Now time to finish our taxes!

  • imageshortgirltx:

I know people who were offended by her performance.  As a Catholic I wasn't offended but I thought it showed poor taste on her part.  I have two thoughts on her performance:

    1.  She felt overshadowed by MIA's finger last week and was trying to create her own buzz.

    2.  She (just like Gaga) is just copying Madonna and still can't come up with something original.

Also, I have some students today who were talking about it and said, "Can you believe that the Pope was her date????"  When I said that wasn't the real pope they started saying that it was.  I finally had to say, "Have you ever seen the real pope?  And do you really think he cares about the Grammy's?"

  • Hi ladies!

It is quiet in my office.  I guess no one else decided to make the slushy drive.

I'm sure you all watched the grammy's last night and haven't caught up on other tv, but did anyone see PanAm?  It said it was a new episode, and I hadn't seen it.  However, it seemed out of order.  In fact, I know it was out of order.  So did I miss one a month or so back and they incorrectly listed it as new?  Or did they really show these out of order?

I don't watch PanAm but there is a thread about this on the Entertainment board and they are confused as well.

  • I am here.  I got stopped for doing 17 over the speed limit, and a headlight out, last night on my way home, and the cop was SO nice.  He didn't even write a warning, and just said to keep it under 70-72 (in a 60), and I'd never see him again.  It was so great seeing J, even if we didn't get to spend much time together because he was working 14 hours a day.  I can't wait for him to come home next week!!!

    Michelle-

Yes it did seem out of order, I was expecting things to transition from prior week when JFK got shot, but that wasn't the case. Super confusing!

Hey, I thought the one I took of you and Bill was pretty good too!

I'm already busy today.  My B&M is that I ate pretty bad all weekend.  Deepthi, I lied sometimes, you DO want to go to the gym--today was definitely one of those days for me!

I thought the Nikki Minage thing was terrible.  I loved Adele--LOVED!  I was calling it the Geriatric Grammys with Glenn Campbell and Paul McCartney.  But I always love it, good and bad.  And I also think Chris Brown should be banned from performing there ever again.

  • If this doctor keeps being condescending to me and we don't get a new one soon, I might just say screw it! In all the years I've worked for physicians and it's been 6 years now I've never had one treat me the way he does!

Stephanie that was me this weekend. I'm glad you were able to get a good work out in.

Wendi - I feel like you need to do proper introductions! Our new married woman!

I agree--I loved it.  I was really talking about a set that we paid for.  I was very disappointed and she was a very reputable photographer who lots of girls talked about.  We paid a fair amount of money and didn't use a single one.

If you girls are friends with me on FB, you know that I talked about Adele all night long.  She is just so amazing and real and I think she should be a role model for girls.  I thought Paul sounded great and so did Glen.  I will go on record as saying that I am not a huge Chris Brown fan but I enjoyed his dancing last night.  Reportedly, he and Rhianna are hooking up and they may or may not be working on a song together.  I lost all respect for her when she sang that song with Eminem and then continued with S&M and those other songs.

LOL Deepthi! Okay, well what to say since most of you know me?

Married 2 days, we live in Frisco and have 3 crazy dogs. My coonhound/shepherd puppy mix is currently digging me a new garden out back. We have to go buy him a Mr Turtle sandbox.

I think now that the wedding is done I am slowly going to transition from corporate events into full-time wedding planning, but I am scared to take that leap to go 100% independent til Hubby finishes school next December (it's weird saying "husband"!)

I may be slow to transition to this board, especially this week since I suspect I'll be playing catch-up from being out from work all last week and today.

  • Wendi--when is the honeymoon?

I am swamped ya'll--I'll just be popping in and out for awhile.  Angie, so glad you got to see the hubs!

  • Stephie, we have to wait til Spring Break :(

We fly out Sunday, March 11 to LAX and are driving up the coast to Pismo Beach for the night. On the 12th we will go up the rest of the way to San Fran, after we visit one of my favorite wineries on the central coast (Tangent). The 12th-16th are tourist days in San Fran, Napa & Sonoma and then we come home that Saturday. If any of you watch The Bachelor (which I know you all do), we are working on getting reservations at that speakeasy he took a date to on week 2 or 3 of the season.

I welcome any and all suggestions on places to eat or things to do while we are there. We love to eat, so I think we will spend a majority of our time pigging out.

  • Wendi - I can't wait to see more pictures from your wedding!

My weekend was a blast, so nothing to really complain about.  DH had Saturday off and planned for two of the things that are on my 30 before 30 list which was to eat from a food truck (we went to the park up in ft. worth) and to go to medieval times.  It was so much fun!  He also sent flowers that were delivered on Friday and have started to bloom.

    Lauren,

Where is this and is it always there?

  • Julie! - Yes!  It's near downtown at 2509 Weisnerberger st and opened back in December.  There are normally 6 trucks parked there.  They alternate, so you should check out the calendar to see what trucks will be there when you go.  http://www.fwfoodpark.com/

  • Michelle - It was even out of order on their timeline.  Meaning, Laura took her photos in last night's episode... but those surfaced 2 episodes ago?  Ginny and Dean broke up, but what?  Where did that come from?!  I thought she was long gone??  The whole episode was just kinda odd.
  • Danielle--where are you moving to?

Wendi--we are going to SF in July.  There are sooo many great places to eat.  So far I know we are going to the Slanted Door  http://www.slanteddoor.com/  And I insist on eating at the Cliff House for the view.  http://www.cliffhouse.com/  There are also a ton of places where Guy Fieri has been on DDD so I told Ben's BFF (who is going with us) to pick one because I want to go to one of them.  Also there is a cool club in the Sir Francis Drake hotel called the Starlight Room. http://www.sirfrancisdrake.com/eat-drink-dance/harry-denton-s-starlight-room

That's all I got so far.  I will be excited to hear your report!  We are going to Napa too but I think just for a day trip.

So I did a bit of interwebz searching today, and it turns out that it was supposed to be shown back a few episodes ago, but they skipped it to show an episode that would have better ratings.  Then pulled it out to show last night since it is going up against the grammy's.  It also appears that, while ABC hasn't  officially confirmed, next week is going to be the series finale.  Bummer.

    Yay Wendi!  Welcome! :)

I thought that I heard it was canceled, but, I guess, it was just something I heard.

When I see things like Pan Am and the Playboy Club (or whatever it was called) where they are time period specific shows, I never think they're going to work out.  I mean Mad Men does but it's on cable and I don't think they have to make the ratings that shows on broadcast have to.  Plus, I would think they would be more expensive than TV shows that take place in the present day.

I told Bill that I would go to the grocery store on my way home and, now, I don't want to.  I only got five hours of sleep last night so I'm feeling very tired (and that may be one more reason that my kids are annoying me so much today) and I also feel a little headache-y.  Also, the manicure that I got last Thursday is already chipping.  I think it was because she made my nails more square shaped this time.

Ben is going for me today.  It was too cold yesterday after church and I didn't want to go so he's going today since he's off so I don't have to do it tonight.  Yay!

My sinuses are killing me today.  I just want to lie down and take a nap.

This may be one more thing with me today.

Bill would have gone to get a few essentials yesterday after we got home but I didn't really want to and his heart wasn't into it.  He offered to go this evening after our first TV show (but during the second) and I didn't want him to because I always feel bad making him go alone.  Plus, I can be sure that I'm getting exactly what I asked for.
