Walking Dead (recap)

What did you think of last night's season premiere?

I felt it was a little slow, but I think it's just setting the groundwork for a lot to come.  Did any of you stay up for the preview of next week (first commercial break during that Comic Book show).  It looked really good.

I'm wondering what will happen with Lori next week.  Any idea where she was going?  My thought is she will live but lose the baby?  And any thoughts on Beth?  I wish they didn't just toss in a random character, but it will be interesting to see what comes of the situation.

I watched a little bit of the last episode from last season, I can't stand the whole Shane-threatening-Dale dynamic, poor Dale, he just keeps enduring this stuff.

Re: Walking Dead (recap)

  • SPOILERS

I'm willing to bet Lori loses the baby.  Not that I like dead babies, but it would be for the best.  I hope she goes, too, tho.  I've really started to develop a love/hate towards this show.  I hate and feel indifferent to more characters than I actually like.  But..  of course I'll continue to watch.

I was happy to see the sheriff (I still don't know people's names off hand) kill those two guys.  1) they were trouble 2) I was happy to see him becoming more assertive in his leadership role.  Though it makes me wonder if those guys' 'people' will find them shot and  come after them.

A lot of this episode irritated me.  Why would Dale tell Lori about Shane?  He's usually so smart about what he does but telling, of all people, Lori?  The only thing she can do when given info nobody else has is mess things up.

    I missed the preview...

  • Lori was going to town to get the doctor to help Beth. Which was dumb.

I don't like the Shane/Dale thing either. But I have to think both are needed to the group to represent the extremes in approaches.

I was pretty shocked when Rick shot the people. I know the show is going to get really dark but I keep hoping it won't really happen.

  • I have no words for Lori - going in to town - and apparently not knowing where town is - and not telling anyone in advance...I don't even know. My guess is she will be found by the new band of people roaming about.

Rick killing the two men in the bar pretty much secured his place back at the farm IMO.

Wondering if Daryl (is that his name? Merle's brother), Shane and Andrea will take off together. The group is splintering.

I'm scared by the pp - if this starts to turn into The Road, I'm not sure I can take it. :)

  • WHY are the female characters in this show so stupid and annoying? I can't stand Andrea, and now Lori is driving me crazy. DH has read the comics and assures me they are very different characters in the books, but man, it's starting to get annoying.
  • I didn't realize Lori was going out to find the Dr.. she seemed like she was being secretive, and getting the gun and everything, and after she lectured Rick on not going out and solving everyone else's problems.

I wish Shane had just taken off with the girl who lost her sister..

     This X1,000,000.

The whole time she went to Darryl and then drove away in the car. I was yelling what the hell for?? Rick and Glenn will be back in like five mins.

BTW, I got so excited when that arm fell off the truck and Andrea picked it up and got back on the truck. I thought for sure a walker was going to munch on her then and there. Very disappointed it didn't happen.

  • Wow - I totally thought the same thing (about the arm and Andrea).  There was a weird foreboding there..
  • I love this show; I'd even say it is my favorite show, but last nights episode was just boring to me.  I felt like the only semi-interesting part was when Rick shot those guys but other than that it left me wanting so much more.  I didn't see the previews for next weeks episode but I can only hope it gets a lot better.

Oh, and I agree about the women characters being annoying.  I don't like any of them.

  • Sorry for the formatting. I am on my iPad. I agree that there was weird foreboding when Andrea picked up the arm. I also agree that the women characters, but mostly Andrea, are annoying. I don't know why Lori thought it was necessary to go out on her own. I think she lost the baby. I also think the girl (herschel's daughter, don't know her name) somehow got bit or scratched when she went to hug her mom. Remember the first season when people would just get bit and then would get a fever, flu symptoms, etc., then turn into a walker? Overall, I thought this episode was pretty good, but definitely felt it was laying the groundwork for more.

Yeah, it was really dumb of her to take off like that. I don't know what the point of that was unless she will be found and helped by another group of survivors that will be introduced.

Wasn't the guy that Rick (the Sheriff) shot in the bar the guy that played Renee on True Blood? I feel bad for the actor, he seems to always get killed off :(

I think Rick shooting those people in the bar is definitely a turning point for him that he has to start adapting to the new world they are in and he can't try to be everyone's savior.

I agree this episode was a bit slow. I hope next week's episode has more excitement. I missed the special preview.

  • I had turned away right when Rick shot them. I was so shocked so I replayed it back on the DVR. Although they did pull their guns on him, I agree Rick is getting less trusting with people. Instead of disarming them and talking it out, he just killed them. About time, I don't know how long someone can stay a level-headed diplomat in a zombie apocalypse. Just hope he doesn't go the way of Shane.
  • I like new assertive Rick.

This is totally just a theory, but I feel like they're going to kill Maggie off soon. (She's the only tolerable female on the show, so it makes me sad to think about it). I don't really have any evidence to support this except that I think that with Beth's inevitable walkerfication (though they may pull one on us, like they did with T-Dog), she's going to wind up killing someone else (particularly someone in her family). It'll either be Maggie or Herschel.

The preview for next week looks intense. Lori is a moron. I hope they finally kill Andrea sometime soon, or at least just let her run off.

They really need some new, likable characters. Right now my 'I actually care about them' list looks like this: Daryl, Carl, Glen and sometimes Rick. The rest of them are disposable.

  • I don't know why, but I kind of hate Glen and Maggie. She is so bossy and rude, and Glen is so meek. It bugs me.

The arm scene...what was that? It felt so odd... and then the way Andrea was down there getting ready to burn the bodies, but then she was back at the house with Beth and said she would watch Carl, and then she was back down there when the bodies burned. It seemed like slopping directing or something, or maybe the distance to where they burned the bodies was very short?

I know a lot of the spoilers from the comics since my husband reads them, so I will just say that I hope they follow the comic re: Lori and the baby.

I thought the same thing at first; I was waiting for something to happen and then it was nothing, but now that I think about it, I think it was a way to show that most of the people are becomming desensitized to the zombies.  If you think back to the beginning, there is no way she would have ever picked up a zombie arm like that, especially so casually and then jumped in the truck bed with all the bodies.
