Qs about silicone baking pans

I've never used them before, but bought some cute mini heart shaped silicone baking pans at the $ store.  I'm planing to bake brownie bites in them and then cover them with pink and red chocolate.

So my questions as I've never baked with silicone before

1) Do I need to spray them with oil or are they non stick?

2) How long do I need to let the brownies sit before turning them out to cool?

3)  Would the timing be much different than if I was using a metal pan of equal size?

TIA!

Re: Qs about silicone baking pans

  • Almost all of my pans are silicone. I do spray them with cooking spray and I put them on a baking sheet. I don't adjust my baking times at all. I usually let them cool in the pan for 5 minutes or so. Just enough to not burn my fingers when I touch them (the pans will still be very hot though).
  • I have some silicone baking pans as well and have never sprayed them.  I haven't had any issues with any sticking.  Baking times are normal - you don't need to adjust them.

I agree with pp that you should let the brownies sit for at least 5 minutes before turning them out to cool.
