rec a downtown vet?

we're getting our first puppy in January so I'm starting the search for vets.   we live pretty much downtown, and would like a vet that we could walk to... or would at least be a short drive...  for basic check-ups, shots, etc.

does anyone have any experience with the Burnham Animal Hospital in South Loop?     or know of any other vets in the vicinity of downtown with good reputations?

Thanks!

  • Not in the south loop- but we have been going to Mid North Animal Hospital at Halsted/Webster for years and they are wonderful.  I highly recommend them.  You can park on Larabee very easily and then let the puppie play in Oz Park which always has lots of friendly dogs before heading home after the vet visit.

  • Hi-

We just moved to Chicago and I had our puppy all checked up prior to moving here but unfortuently had an emergency and needed to take him last weekend to a vet. We went to the Gold Coast Animal Hospital and had a very good experience.

Someone also recommended the Burnham vet to me, but the Gold Coast vet was a walkable distance for us.

     good luck!
