Re: VD Poll #1 - Favorite Love Movie
I agree, gotta be When Harry Met Sally, especially when Harry takes of running through the streets because he can't stand not being with Sally any more.
And for romance gone wrong, The Way We Were.
And when Maria and the Captain sing to each other in the gazebo in The Sound of Music, I love it.
But the first few minutes of UP, may very well have to be my favorite love story of all time.
I saw this and thought "what does VD have to do with movies?" (thinking VD = venereal disease. HAHA)
I LOVE Love Actually, The Wedding Singer, When Harry Met Sally, and Sleepless in Seattle.
Mama's Gonna Buy You A Mockingbird
When Harry met Sally for sure although the first few minutes of UP just about killed me. I was not expecting that.
It's not a true love story, but the relationship that Nick and Nora have in The Thin Man series has always been one I love and admire.
Ponder-ing whether or not to become a Viking's fan
Gets me every time!
I also like The Notebook and Titanic. Not really a romance movie type gal, though.
Pride & Prejudice :-)
Either Pride and Prejudice or Love Actually.
Also, Rox/Carrie (and apologies to the sparklies) I saw a picture on pinterest that said "Pixar told a better love story in 8 minutes than Stephanie Meyer told in 4 books" and I was nodding my head like yeah.
I hear ya! I am very happy for Sparklies who have something that makes them so very happy, but it ain't my thing.
totally ditto the beginning of Up. We watched it last night before the Grammys and again, I teared up.
The Notebook & Love, Actually are both up there as well.
Katie Talks About...
The notebook, Nick and Norah's infinite playlist, Garden State, and Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind.
And I also agree with those who said the beginning of up.
I tend to go with the lesser-known and less critically aclaimed ones:
Fools Rush In
The Holiday
my read shelf:
I love Jack Black's character and that whole relationship, and the other guy with the kids in The Holiday.
My favorite movies are The American President, and For Love of the Game, both romantic types.
Bazinga!
Liz's Yarn
Spirit of Power
Eat, Drink, and be Keri
I'm going old school here:
On Golden Pond ... I adore the dynamic between Norman and Ethel.
Much Ado About Nothing ... "Thou and I are too wise to woo peaceably."
Love Actually ... How Jamie and Aurelia can communicate perfectly across languages without realizing it.
A family fave - good call!
Spirit of Power
Eat, Drink, and be Keri
The Notebook
and depressing, but a good love story PS I Love You
