Baby Shower Food

I'm co-hosting a baby shower in a few weeks for a friend.  It's at 2 pm at the other host's house, for about 15 or so guests.  We'd like to do some small, EASY food items to be served before we do cake.  All I have on my list is a veggie and cheese platter.  What are some of your favorites, that require little-to-no work?  Extra points for inexpensive, pre-made items from Wegmans/Trader Joes/etc!

Re: Baby Shower Food

  • I'm a big fan of getting a bunch of bags of turkey meatballs from TJs (in the frozen section), a couple of bottles of their barbecue sauce, and putting it into the crockpot. So easy and really delish.
  • trader joe's had a brie fondue that you bake for like 20 minutes, it was soooo good!

i know whole foods sells most of the cava dips (crazy feta, etc...) i bet those would be a hit with a veggie tray and some pita/pita chips.

  • Pasta salads/chicken salad/etc.  I love the roll-up sandwiches from Wegmans, you have to call ahead to have them made, but they're delicious.

You could do a fruit platter too.

YESSSSS. I don't care who you are, you love meatballs in bbq. Assuming you're not a vegetarian, obvs.,

Other ideas: crack dip, taco/7 layer dip, crab dip. Mini quiche from Costco. Baked brie. Sandwich wraps cut in to roll-up segments. Pizza/flatbread cut in to pieces.

  • A friend made these for book club and they were a huge hit (because who doesn't like bacon)

  • Be sure to ask your friend if she has any dietary restrictions. Many pregnant women will not eat lunch meats and many cheeses (the non-pasteurized ones).

  • Thanks Ladies!

Sofka--we work together, so I'm aware of her dietary restrictions.  She's a vegetarian, but so many of the options posted fall into that category, or can be adapted, which is fantastic.  Plus, I was pregnant not THAT long ago, so I do remember the Do's and Don'ts.  :-)
