Our tech team has launched updates to The Nest today. As a result of these updates, members of the Nest Community will need to change their password in order to continue participating in the community. In addition, The Nest community member's avatars will be replaced with generic default avatars. If you wish to revert to your original avatar, you will need to re-upload it via The Nest.

Comcast DVR issues

I'm certain we're not the only people this happens to.

Occasionally, when we have a scheduled recording set through our DVR, it won't record, or it'll only record a minute or two, and comes up with the message that this recording was interrupted and that some of the recording might be lost.  I have Desperate Housewives on a series recording and it messed it up that way last night.  I just noticed it now when I was about to start watching.  It's very annoying.

In the past when I've called Comcast about it, they just send the signal through again, but it never helps.

Does this happen for any of you? Have you fixed it? If so, how?

  • We have had the same problem, and Comcast has been unable to fix it (but they suck anyway).  I've noticed that it happens most often when there are two simultaneous recordings, so I've been trying to find alternate times for shows to avoid that.  We also sometimes lose recordings if there are severe weather alerts - not because the power goes out, but the recording will freeze when the alert comes on.  And sometimes, for no apparent reason, it will just not record one show that's scheduled.  I try to check my scheduled recordings every night to look for those; often I will have to delete and re-add the show.  I hate Comcast so much.

  • That used to happen to us regularly.

    I finally found the only way possible to fix it - I cancelled Comcast and signed up with a competetor. It was the best TV desicion of my life (that, plus adding HBO to the new order).

    I hate Comcast more than words can describe. Seriously.

    Yep.  Same here.  I wish we could switch, but there are no other options in our area (we can't do dish in our apartment).

  • This happens to me every so often, usually as others said, when there are two things recording or there is a storm. Last week I had the strangest thing happen. A movie recorded from BET. No one set it up to record. I was furious because it taped for 4 hours in HD and took up so much space that I missed a couple of my shows the next day!
