Too much?

One of my co-workers called in sick today, another came in for an hour to drop off a laptop and left and now another one called from out in the field to say he was just sick in some guy's house (he was doing a interview).

So, I'm establishing a germ-free perimeter around my desk that no one is allowed to cross. I have just enough sick time right now that by taking one week of short term disability, I'll have 1 week left over for when the baby eventually gets sick at daycare. I'm terrified I'm going to catch something and besides being miserable I just don't have the time to spare.

Am I overreacting a little?

Re: Too much?

  • You are too funny! I love the idea of a germ free perimeter...here at my office we have a bunch of germiphobes and if someone even looks sick he/she gets the hairy eyeball right quick :-)

But I do feel your frustration, and here' hoping that the germs stay far away from you and your little one!

  • Haha!  I would be taking every precaution too!  Especially if I were limited on sick/vacation days.  Plus you'll need all your strength in the next couple weeks for birthing baby!

  • That's awesome!!!  No, I don't think it's too much.  If anyone has a problem with it, they can use THEIR sick days to take care of you and your baby :)  That will shut them up!  Stay healthy girl!!!
  • Nope, not at all.  I'm not even pregnant and I still try my best to create a germ-free perimeter around my desk.  I had the cooties 2 weeks ago and don't want 'em back! Stay healthy & strong!  :)

  • At this point, I say do what you have to.  I'm sure people will understand.

  • My stepdad does this thing where, if you're sick and talking to him, he will pull his shirt over his nose and his mouth while the conversation takes place. I'll never forget when he did it to me - at first I was upset but I got the hint really quickly to keep my distance until I was well. He told me that he does it to people at work as well - his feelings are - "if they care about me they'll stay away from me until they're better."

So go on with keeping your perimeter. :)
