Aw, thanks for asking! We just got home from the vet about 20 minutes ago. He gained about a third of a pound (which is good, but he still has a way to go) and the vet said the fistula is showing signs of granulation, which could mean it's going to heal on its own. So we're still playing the waiting game - we'll go back on Wednesday for a follow-up with his surgeon to see if she thinks any further surgery is necessary.
Today's Dr. also opined that if it were her cat and surgery were necessary, she'd ask for a referral to a dental specialist. Sooo, all that being said, I think I'll request UCDavis (our local teaching hospital) if surgery becomes necessary. They take Care Credit, which is obviously pretty important.
