So flippin mad at Farmers. I need auto ins recs

Our insurance agent is making us grow up and get on our own policy since our current policy resides under my ILs policy.  It has been this way for nearly 15 years.  I just got our quote and it's 20% higher.  I need to call around, but being that I had an accident 2 years ago that was my fault, I'm going to pay I'm sure.

I'd love to get some recs, please.

  • love love love USAA (gotta have military ties to qualify for membership though, so not sure if that will work for ya).

I've got several friends who sing praises about Amica.

    Good luck!

no identifiable siggy pictures anymore, thanks a lot stupid nest!
  • I was in an at fault accident in october and we just switched insurance because of a rate increase. The best deal we could get was through Geico. We added my SIL to our policy, lowered our deductable, and increased some of the medical coverage. Even with those changes we are paying $30 less than we were PREaccident with Progressive. We also looked at farmers and allstate.

  • We use American Family.  Every policy is so different that there is no way to know if they will be less expensive, but our agent Dale Weese is wonderful.  He is always so helpful and he isn't the insurance guy that calls every other day trying to sell you on something you don't need.
  • Our insurance is through Nationwide and we've always been happy.  I have an insurance agent, Dan Weber that will search multiple companies to find the best rate for you.  His number is 303.369.7833.

  • I love Geico :)

That being said, American family and state farm are rated as worst for paying out on claims for their customers. There is a technical name for it but it's slipping my brain currently.

  • Lots of ideas already but I'll add mine to your list to compare.

We have American Family with Jeff Zusman in Cherry Creek. They have always been great! I started with him before DH and I were together now we have everything under them. Been with them for probably 10 years.

  • We are with Allstate - Naoma Eisenbach -(303) 674-2240

She's been DH's agent since he started driving, and he was on his mom's plan.  We looked at switching before to see if we could save $ but I never found anyone who could give us comparable service for the price.

They went through a bunch of options for us too, to see how we could cut down, and they have a "vanishing deductible" type thing now too.

  • We have Geico. We've never had a claim, so I don't know how they'll do with that but they were the cheapest by a lot and the online service center is easy to use. Before this we were with State Farm. My parents have used the same agent, Mike Bailey, since 1980. I always worked with his wife, Mary Beth, and I love her. They even came to our wedding! It was hard to switch, but they were more $$ for us.

  • We have State Farm.  I love them.  We have the same agent DH has had since he was 16.  Never had a problem with them at all.
