Scentsy - tips for best results?

Seemed like the most appropriate board for this, I guess it's kind of a "decor" item...

I got my Scentsy burner as a gift a couple years ago and really loved it.  I just get used to the scents really quickly now or something.  Have any of you found any good ideas for making the scents last longer or stronger?

TIA!

Re: Scentsy - tips for best results?

  • I am a Scentsy consultant.  :)

What size warmer are you using?  How many cubes do you put in it?

Each cube lasts 10-12 hours, although some scents are stronger than others.  There are certain ones i have found that last a lot longer, others than last a shorter amount of time.

If you are using a full-size warmer, it's recommended to use 2 cubes.  I use 1 if I am warming a scent that I feel is strong.  If it's a lighter scent, I will use 2 cubs.

    A mid-size is 1-2 cubes, but I suggest 1 cube.

A plug in warmer is 1 cube (otherwise wax will pour off the sides!).

It also depends on the size of the room the warmer is in.  A plug in is best for small rooms like bathrooms or laundry rooms.  Mid-size are good for kitchens, dens, etc.  Full-size are for bedrooms, living rooms, dining rooms.  Also, the temperature of the room and if the warmer is near a window.

If you want, I can recommend some stronger scents for you!  Just let me know the types of scents you like.  :)

  • There are certainly scents that last longer and are stronger than others. Some scents I have to use 2 cubes to make an impact through my home. Do you find that to be true? I can usually get 5-6 times (about 6 hours each time) out of each cube before I can't smell it anymore. But I can always smell it when it's on, and most of the guest who come while it's on can smell it too.

  • One thing I have noticed that can really hurt the scent effect is if you have a ceiling fan on in a room...especially a room with high ceilings.  In a smaller room, or one with lower ceilings, the scent really does last awhile.  But not in my living room with high ceilings.  Yankee Candle give off much better/stronger scent in the living room with the fan on.

But I love my scentsy in every other room of the house.  Just not the living room, sadly.

You may be on to something there...  I recently moved into a loft style apartment and my Mid-size burner is in the living room where there is a ceiling fan and the ceiling is the highest - 2 stories.  Idk why I didn't think of this...

I do usually only use 1 cube in my Mid-size.  I had been considering getting a couple more burners and putting the same scent in all at once.  Maybe that's the best route?

  • I have 2 full size warmers in my living room, and I can smell them if I sit right next to them, but they don't 'fill the room' with scent.  But it's worth a try!  Your LR might have better scent dynamics than mine Smile

  • Another tip:

To remove the wax (after it cools) place the burner, sans plug if you can, in the freezer for about 15 mins. Take your thumb and press down right at the edge of the wax and it will pop right out! Works way better that those grab tabs they sell.

  • I like a strong scent in my home, so I have four full size warmers in my downstairs.  One in my living room, dining room, bathroom, and kitchen.  Upstairs I have 3.  :)

I always just pick the whole top part up, dump the wax, and wipe the remainder with a paper towel... woopsy.

My stepmom is a goober. She's actually the one who gave me mine, but she pours the wax into a cup of water.  She likes the little figurines it makes. haha

  • I have yet to try this so I;m not sure how of well it will work, but I heard if you only use one cube of wax in the full size warmers and a half cube in the plug in warmers than the scent will last longer. Apparently, this is because the scent throw comes from the bottom of the dish so if your warmer is swimming in wax it won't smell as long. Supposedly, less is more! Let me know how it goes! :)
