Has anyone used Philadelphia's Cooking Creme?

Just saw a commercial and it looked so good, but then again, I'm pretty hungry...

Re: Has anyone used Philadelphia's Cooking Creme?

  • I have! I browsed their recipes on their site and picked a simple pasta one. It was more of a base for a cream sauce. It was pretty good...not like the best thing I ever had but I like having them around when I want a quick thing to throw together. I'm willing to try it in a few more recipes and see how it works.

  • They have a ton of salt, a few kinds of sugars and hidden MSG.  No thanks.

Ditto.  These things gross me out.  I think you could get the same effect with cream cheese, cream/stock and seasonings.

  • I have and I love this stuff.  When I make my Taco bake recipe I normally use the Garlic flavor.  Its wonderful to cook with.  I haven't used any of their recipes.  I have used it for recipes I have the call for cream cheese (not baking recipes though).

  • I have used the Italian one and made chicken pasta primavera and it was really really good. I just added milk because it was sort of thick. As pp said, its not great for you, but in a pinch every once in a while, its really good!
  • I got it once because I had a coupon and figured I'd try it. I'd say it was so-so. It was good but was REALLY heavy.
  • no way! my fridge staple mascarpone mixed with herbs and garlic does the same thing without all of the crap (see PP's post re: msg etc... ) in it.

  • I used it once quite a while ago- had a coupon for it free and am always looking for ways to save time.  DH really liked it - but I didn't.  I think that a cream sauce is something I can whip up pretty quick without all the preservatives, etc... I just have to get better at my cream sauce.  we haven't tried it again

  • I have only used the plain (because of the ingredients) once (because I had a coupon that made it free).  It was just 'eh' and the same as using cream cheese + milk... and that is just as easy for me.
