Re: Montreal restaurant recs
Au Pied de Cochon is awesome for dinner. It was on the Montreal episode of No Reservations with Anthony Bourdain. I've eaten there twice and it's a good place for a fancy-ish meal. Make reservations in advance.
Sparrow has a great breakfast/brunch menu.
Have a hot cocoa or a sweet at Juliette et Chocolat (chain place so there are multiple locations).
La Banquise is open 24/7 and has a bunch of poutine options (poutine is like disco fries).
For something to do, the Biodome is fun. Not to be confused with the Biosphere, which is also O.K. but more museum-y. The Biodome is like an indoor zoo.
I dont know how touristy it would be but Garde Manger is the restaurant that Chuck Hughes from the Food network works in/owns. They showed something called "poutine"- cheese curds and gravy over fries - it looked so good.
Also, Montreal is well known for its smoked meats/deli- a very old, well known place is Schwartz's.
here is a good website to check out:
