And now Coop doesn't want to eat or drink. He drank 3of his 7 oz this morning, which is something, but not great, and has no interest in his food at all. I will offer him smaller amounts of formula more often, but no one wants a dehydrated kiddo on their hands. His doc said he is pretty much a text book example of the secondary virus they are seeing a ton of right now, and that it does seem to really make kids feel extra crappy. She also showed me his top 4 teeth which seem to be in a battle for who os comming in first. That always makes eating seem super fun for a LO. Not! Please get better Doodle, We have to make sure you get enough liquids or we will have to go back to the doctor again.
Re: eat, son!
Poor Coop! Hope he's feeling better soon.
Once when J was about 1 yr old, he was so sick and dehydrated. I gave him a small plastic cup with a teeny bit of water with no lid. He loved it and thought it was funny to drink out of a cup. We got water everwhere, but it some of it got in him and I was so thankful for that. Could be worth a try.
Or, if he's teething, sometimes a wet washcloth to suck on helps.
Sounds like the bug that ran rampant through our house for the last 2 months. I thought 3.5 yo DD was being a drama queen until I got it and then I worried I was pregnant because I felt nauseous all day and barely ate or drank anything for about 7-10 days...no fever or anything, just felt icky. Then DS got it. We used a syringe to give him gatorade or pedia-lyte on particularly low volume food/drink days and on days where we tried to get him to eat and was successful, he ended up throwing up anyway. He took in what he needed and as long as there are still wet diapers you should be okay. It really is a crummy virus with no outward symptoms other than feeling nauseous and tired. And DD would go on food and drink strikes when she had teeth coming in. Yogurt would be about the only thing I could get her to eat during those times.
Doesn't seem to be a tummy thing SO FAR (never say never, right.)
He ate another 3 oz a little later, and since I am home today with him anyway, if he will keep doing that for me, we will be golden. (And puffs, he is eating puffs - which have no real value, but kind of let me know that he has some desire to eat, which is good.)
Tomorrow and Thursday are Nana days anyway now, so he will be home to get extra TLC until Friday, when I hope he will be better.
