Induction date set
So here's the plan :
I'm being induced due to factor V and being on heparin BID. I go in next Monday at midnight. They will insert cervadil. Then start pitocin in the am around 7am. I am extremely nervous. I was supposed to be induced with my son. But he ended up coming 2 days before his induction. I am already 3cm, 50% effaced and -2 station. That was at 37w2d. I plan on asking them to check me Friday to see where im at. Really hoping she comes on her own like her big brother.
I know some of you ladies have been induced. Is this the steps they followed to induce you?
So either way Madison will be here in 1 week. I'm hoping on her own terms

I was induced with both my kids. I was nervous beforehand but everything worked out really well.
The only thing I would question is the necessity for cervadil. Both of my inductions I was far less progressed than you in dilation and in effacement. The first I started with a foley catheter, the second was with pitocin only. The way my doctor described it she made it sound as if cervadil was only used to soften if you are less favorable. Could be just my docs preference though.

I agree with Lauren though about the cervadil. My doctor told me yesterday that she wouldn't give me cervadil since I'm 90% effaced, 0 station and 1.5 cm dilated. She said they would give me a low dose of pitocin and break my water. Maybe it's a difference with me being a primipara? I know that second time moms are more likely to dilate/efface at the same time, where primi's are more likely to start off with just effacement.

Yea. I plan on asking my OB about that. I thought I read somewhere once your 4cm they don't like using it then. So that will be one question I have friday
I was induced at 37/3 due to PreE and was completely unfavorable. I had no effacement, no dilation and she was completely high. I was given cervadil (which didn't do anything but cause contractions that didn't do anything). I agree that I think Cervadil is generally only given to soften and get things going - - which it sounds like you're doing on your own. I'd just ask her why Cervadil if you're already progressing - she's the Doc and may have a good reason or may realize yea she probably won't use it with you specifically.

That's pretty common protocol for inductions. When I have clients that are facing an induction, I tell them to have sex (if possible) ni order to help that cervix soften even more. Semen acts as a natural prostaglandin. I also suggest using evening primrose oil and drink raspberry leaf tea. Neither will induce labor but they will help to soften the cervix which makes a medical induction that much easier.

I did the cervadil the night before and then remove it in the morning and start pitocin. I was 0 dilated/0 effaced though so not sure about the use of cervadil in your situation.
I hope your LO is able to come on her own terms. Have lots of sex in the meantime to see if it will move things along naturally!
Thanks. I'm not sure. I got an epidural with Evan at 5cm. But really felt I could have gone longer without it. They actually turned it off when I pushed for 2 hours and turned my pitocin up. That was painful. But I did it somehow

I was induced with Cordelia at 41weeks. I went in at 7AM, they started the pitocin at 8AM, broke my water at noon and after stalling for a few hours, Cori arrived around 8PM after 3 pushes. For me, it was faster and easier than labor with Alex, and she was on her own terms.
EDIT: I was barely 2cm that morning. They never mentioned cervadil.
