Ultrasound today- good and bad news

tI woke up at 6am to go pee and I couldn't believe what I saw.  I sat down and started loosing brown blood, a decent amount.  I was panicked and of course started crying.  DH was trying to calm me down.  We had an appt for 1130 today, but I called when the office opened and explained my story.  They had me come in right away.  The good news is the baby is measuring right on with dates and has a strong heartbeat, in the 150s.  The bad news: I have a subchorionic bleed.  Not sure of the size, the OB didn't really say.  All he really said is he saw a decent amount of blood.  If you look on the u/s picture, the blood is the black area to the right of the baby.My OB said to call if things gets worse or the bleeding turns red.  I told him I have mild cramping, and he said it's normal with this.  Of course google wasn't giving me the information I wanted to see.  My OB said try to stay positive because it's a good thing baby is measuring right on track and has a strong hb.  But, that's easier said than done.Does anyone have any experience with these or know anything about them?  Anyways, I could use any and all T&P that this dang clot/hematoma dissolves on its own and doesn't cause any worsening problems.  Thanks!!

  • The only advise I have is to stay away from Dr. Google. Hope everything turns out fine.

  • I don't have any advice or experience with this but just wanted to send you my thoughts and hope that everything works out.  I can only imagine how scary that is to see that; I actually check like everytime I pee becaue I'm paranoid of stuff like that just from having a lot of friends who have gone through problems.

    Stay positive and take care!

  •  I have no advice either, but you will be in my thoughts. I am hoping for the best for you. And like Shawna said, stay positive!

  • Yep!  kathy has a great memory.  I did have a SCH with Olivia.  I honestly don't remember how big it was, but I bled for a couple weeks.  It eventually resolved itself.  Dr. Google is the devil.  Take it easy.  keep your feet up as much as you can and rest.  drink lots of water.  lay on your left side.  I'll be thinking of you!

  • I hope it resolves itself very soon!  Take care of yourself!

  • So sorry you're dealing with this!

I'm not entirely sure if this is what my cousin had, because I don't remember what she told me it was called, but she did have a clot that caused bright red bleeding and severe cramping around 9 weeks in to her pregnancy. Baby was also doing very well, but her clot was larger than the baby. She basically did nothing but go to work then come home and lay on her couch - lots of rest, drink water, etc. The clot did completely resolve on its own and she's now almost 30 weeks pregnant with a healthy baby boy! Her doctor says her pregnancy is now considered totally normal. It was scary and nerve-wracking at first, but now she's great.

Anyway, thinking of you and sending good vibes your way! Step away from Dr. Google and try to stay positive!

  • My friend had a large SCH during most of her pregnancy and gave birth about 2 weeks ago to a very healthy baby boy.  She was on bed rest for most of her 1st tri and into her 2nd but it did resolve itself.  Her Dr's monitored her very closely and as the SCH shrank she was able to add in more activity like light walking.  It was very nerve-wracking for her but being surrounding by love and support helped her a lot.  T&Ps to you and try not to fret too much.  The best thing is that you caught it early so that the Dr.'s can monitor it and make sure baby continues to grow and thrive.
