any gardening or decor projects this Spring/Summer?
Anyone has any gardening or decor projects for her garden/patio/balcony/sunroom, etc this Spring?
If you garden, are there any plants you're looking forward to plant?
Re: any gardening or decor projects this Spring/Summer?
We need to replace our back fence. It fell during a storm...2 years ago.
We also wanted to either replace or refinish our deck. I'm about out of space to plant, but I'm excited to see how many of my perennials come back. and I planted bulbs last year for the first time and I'm waiting for them to appear.
Gardening: Keep our avocado trees and blueberry bushes alive, and hopefully see some fruit this summer or next fall!
Decor: This isn't really "decor" but more home improvement. But now that I finally have a new job that pays decent, we're looking at replacing the old, horrible, leaky, barely-insulated windows in our house. I'm really looking forward to doing this and actually being able to open some of the windows that currently don't open, and keep the house warmer and cooler.
I'm also hoping to do some painting around the house this summer. I'm over the yellow living room/dining room walls we inherited when we moved in, and want something more neutral.
Our biggest gardening/outdoors project is building and putting in raised beds. We're planning to line the edge of our lawn with them sort of like a fence. We'll have to dig up and move some of our sprinklers, dig out the grass and lay down mulch or gravel first. It's a pretty big job and it honestly might have to wait until next year since the time when we'd need to plant everything is right around the corner. We also need to tear down the existing patio cover and build a nice new one. That's a pretty low priority though, probably in a few years (or whenever the current one falls down).
Decor-wise inside, the list is suuuuper long. We need to have our whole main living area painted but I have to pick colors first. Our bedroom and both bathrooms need to be painted too. Also, replace bifold closet doors in 2 rooms, replace baseboards in main living area and office, install crown moulding in DD's room and replace the poorly-installed crown in the main living area, buy new furniture and a rug for our currently empty living room, buy barstools and a dining room rug, replace window in master bathroom bathroom, have recessed lighting installed in main living area, retile our entryway, and have window trim added to the bedroom windows. Eventually we'll retile our master bathroom too. I also need to find curtains for our bedroom and a blackout roman shade or something like that for DD's room. Oh, and restain the cabinets in both bathrooms, replace a faucet, and a ton of other little things.
I'm not quite sure where the money for all of these projects is going to come from, and of course I want to start checking them off the list now. DH doesn't quite agree with me on that.
Gardening - hoping to plant some spring flowers in the front of our house and in the back. Also, would love to get rid of the tan bark that was in the backyard when we bought the house and lay down sod with some pea gravel border around it. I should actually price the sod at local nurseries as I know Home Depot is $3.50/sq foot.
Decor - we have a nursery to start - which will more than likely be repainted unless I find bedding to go with what it's currently painted as now (Tidal pools by Behr). Eventually we want to upgrade our 1983 insulated windows to double or triple insulated - but of course we don't have the money right now to replace those; maybe one at a time right?
